This is perfect. New GM will come in and realize they are bare to the bone and try and trade Lopez/Thad Young to picks.  That also buys the new GM some time as well.

Still ticked off at those two Nets losses however.

http://www.nba.com/2016/news/01/10/nets-gm-steps-down-hollins-fired/

Literally just happened

Can't say I am surprised at the result, but I am surprised at how this reads...

It seems like the Nets organization had much higher expectations for this team.  I cannot say I agree, but with a healthy Lopez (who has played really well) and a full year from Thad Young, I can maybe see the rationale why.  They must have thought Hollins could coach them to 40 wins.

So Hollins is fired for underperformance and King is 'reassigned' - probably because he disagreed with the firing.  I think most of us would agree that Hollins did an OK job with the team he had...there are literally 2 NBA starters on the entire roster.  If anyone underperformed, it was King.  Someone like Hollins should have been hired to coach KG and Pierce.  Instead he was brought on to manage a sinking ship with King as the captain.

Here's hoping they do what I have suggested for the past few weeks -  put Lopez and Young on the market and get 1st rounders in return.  Good for the Cs in the short run but good for the Nets in the long run.

I think they could also make a play for Carmelo.

I wonder if they will go after Luke Walton right away

Hope the new GM blows the team up so we can get an even better chance at simmoms

It seems it only really makes sense to blow it up if they deal with us to get one or more of their picks back.

Olynyk and Lee and the right to swap in 2017 for Lopez?

They would blow it up because those assets are gone.  Being good or bad doesn't get them back.  They need to rebuild and to do that would mean blowing it up and getting picks back.  They can't even make deals with 1st round picks unless they get someone else's.  Maybe they can get two or three mid to late round picks for their guys and start to build it back up.  That seems like a much better way to go to me.  It doesn't do the organization much good to keep Lopez and Johnson when you are winning maybe 20 games a year.

They totally should. And Luke Walton should say "Ok. But then I need a ten year totally guaranteed contract slightly above the league average"

This is good news imo. The team was playing hard for Hollins, it's not a given they will play hard for the next guy.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

I agree. If it was a coach the players didn't like, I could see them rallying around the new coach. Not the case here.

such as? what do they have to trade that would bring back better players now, this season? as stated, this post makes no sense that i can see.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

The chance of that is 0.000000001%. No decent GM would try to win this season with that Nets team. Billy King might have, as he was fighting for his job, but thats over now. A new GM will immediately look to make his mark on the future and rebuild.

They have a $25M expiring deal in Joe Johnson

They have an All-Star-caliber center in Brook Lopez

They have a solid NBA starting PF in Thad Young

They have a couple interesting role players in Bogdanovic, Larkin, Reed that could fit some teams' needs

Not really.  They'd have nothing to trade except for the aforementioned Lopez and Thad Young

Just saw this. Just wow. Not sure how this helps the Nets in any way! Even though King was a terrible GM, I don't see how any GM can fix their mess with what they have now. And Hollins is a good coach! Can't see a new coach getting more wins out of them...
