  • TRANSFORMATION INTO CHAMPION COMPLETE!!!
Not surprising, but Billy King was the best option at Nets GM for the Celtics.

For one, i thought the team was outperforming expectations with Hollins as coach.

I think this might be good news for us.  I don't think any coach is going to make that much difference and a new GM might be more willing to bite the bullet and trade Lopez, Johnson or Young for future draft picks to help rebuild.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
I thought Lionel did well with how bad his roster is.

Billy King ruined the Nets and dragged Hollins with him. Interesting to see who they bring up as GM. If it's someone who's going to do a film blow rebuild, I'd like for us to give a good look at Brook Lopez.

I agree. If you look at their net rating, they should have even less wins then they do now. Especially considering they won two games with their best perimeter defender - Hollis-Jefferson and Joe Johnson has been a complete shell of himself the entire season.

I wonder if they will go after Luke Walton right away

Hope the new GM blows the team up so we can get an even better chance at simmoms

But Billy was a great GM - Celtics Fans. One thing he did well was finding one off talents like Bodj and of the like

WOW! King news is bad as he would have garunteed continued suck age for the next 2 years but the hollins firing is actually really good for us. Thought he was a really good coach and did about as well as you could have hoped.

The confusing bit here is that I can't imagine anyone wants to step into either of these roles unless they are absolutely desperate.

The biggest bright side is probably that King was probably tryin to save face and not be known as the guy on the losing end of one of the worst trades in recent history so I think King planned to keep Lopez and Young then overpay for mediocre FAs and be a late lotto team till they get their picks back. The new GM won't give a [dang] about the picks and will just want to rebuild Brooklyn as fast as possible.

This new GM could feasibly decide that the fastest rebuild is by starting from scratch and deal Lipez for picks.

That'd be ideal but I wouldn't count on it.

Tri, don't you have a thread that says we have NO CHANCE at Simmons because the Nets will be the 8th seed?

It seems it only really makes sense to blow it up if they deal with us to get one or more of their picks back.

Olynyk and Lee and the right to swap in 2017 for Lopez?

If the goal is a quick rebuild I think keeping Lopez and Young facilitates that the best.

Cashing in BB and JJ for any kind of draft asset though would probably be an objective of the new GM.

Maybe they can pry Divac away from the Kings?  :)

things are looking even better for the celtics. i do hope the nets toss in the towel, trade any player worth a darn for picks, and try to tank their way to eventual success.

those future picks, not just this years, are looking better and better.  ;D
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.
