And Isaiah Thomas is one of them. The other four are Westbrook, Harden, Lillard, and LeBron. While all of the other four have better numbers across the board, Isaiah truly is in elite company. Thirteen games through the season, we seem to have an All-Star on our hands.
Isaiah, you were lightning in a bottle.

If he keeps starting and the Celts keep winning at least half their games, he'll have a good shot.

What's his main competition in the East?

Wade will get voted in, as will Kyrie.

So then you have a few guard slots behind those two.  A lot of competition for those spots.

Lowry, Wall, Reggie Jackson, Bradley Beal, Demar Derozan, Jimmy Butler.  Even Kemba Walker has been playing really well.

Looking at that ... I think it'll be tough.

No doubt it will be tough, especially given his lack of name recognition, but so far, the numbers are there.

John Wall got voted over Kyrie last year.

KD didn't get voted in last year and he had just won MVP months earlier. People have short memories. Kyrie's not on Kobe's stature to just assume he's an automatic lock, especially when he wasn't even voted in last year.

Possible a few guys get hurt or don't want to play. There's a few replacement players every year. If he gets in, I think that's how it will be. I'll be rooting for him to.

John Wall got voted over Kyrie last year.

Alright, fair point.  For some reason I thought it was Kyrie.  Wall will likely make it in if Kyrie doesn't, then.  Still there's a long list of guys aside from Wall and Kyrie who will be vying for it.

I'd love for Isaiah to get selected, I'm just pointing out, there are a lot of guards putting up nice stats on decent-to-good teams in the East.

At least there aren't any really good guards in NY to win based on the size of their voting audience.

Wade, Wall, and Butler are the only guys obviously better than IT.

Thomas could EASILY get selected behind one of those 3.

It's just as "tough" for those other guys to play better than IT, as it is for IT to play better than them.  Why does IT stick out as having a harder time making it than those guys?
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
keep in mind that the fans vote for the starting fives of the All Star game.

The bench is voted for by the coaches. I'd say the coaches like IT, and might think he deserves it. From that same perspective, IT is probably the poorest defender of any potential All Star guard in East.

I'd say he's about 40% chance or so get voted by the coaches. His main competition behind John Wall as the starting PG will be (without a healthy Kyrie)..
Kyle Lowry
Reggie Jackson
Goran Dragic
Jeff Teague

That's a pretty tough four guys to get past.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

I tend to think the coaches will select other guys, seeing as coaches tend to care about defense.  But on the other hand, Isaiah is the best player on a team currently in the playoff race.  That counts for something with coaches, too.

Because defense is a thing.

  • A true Celtic plays with heart.
Perfect. Now package him with Crowder and some second round pick, or late first rounder for Ezeli+Barnes.
