I think IT needs to go back to the bench. It's as simple as that. He might be scoring 21 a game, but he's doing it with a really high usage and shooting 42% and 31%. While Smart is out, just start Turner with Bradley. When Smart comes back, start Turner in place of Jae if Smart still doesn't look ready to run the offense. IT is just too much of a defensive liability and too turnover-prone to be in that first unit.

Why are you complaining about Lee? He did just fine tonight.
Man, i wasnt on the floor when we were killed this qtr - Lee was!

Uh ok? Just because the lineup itself was bad doesn't mean Lee was. Jerebko KO and Amir were awful tonight. Lee did was he was supposed to do. Be the a second-string big.
4 fouls and 3 TO and got srewed every time in defense - EVERY time

He had 10 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists in 25 minutes and shot 55% from the field.

As a backup PF, not sure what more you can really ask for.
Did you think he played well? When we needed a run he missed a buncha shots in a row got abused on d and turned it over. He killed us.

1st half Lee was pretty darn good with his rebounding, scoring, and even made a play or two on the defensive side.

Second half wasn't the same story. But my point isn't that Lee was awesome. My point is Lee actually put up a good statline compared the other bigs mentioned who didn't do jack.

Also its one game and we faced the Atlanta Hawks, one of the best teams in the east. Everyone needs to take a deep breath.
Lee played badly when we needed him. I think a lot of players on this team try to do way to much.

Turner does Thomas does and sully does.
Lee thinks he's better than he is. When he plays within himself it's great but idk why we go to him when we need buckets he pretty much can't make anything other than an open layup anymore.

Amir Johnson was PATHETIC tonight----so was KO and Jerebko----SOFT as Tissue.

Hunter deserved more minutes too...
Hawks just PUNKED us all night---pushed us around and we let them....sad.
Larry Bird was Greater than you think.

Exactly.

You're talking about a 33 year old bench player.  If he was putting the numbers he just did without the fouls and turnovers, then he'd be starting.

He's not, hence why he's not perfect.

But as far as reserves go, he's been pretty good this season.

Bright side:

AB was great

Hunter looked like he belonged and then some

Young got a steal and a 3. He did get lost on D but overall I think tonight was good for him. I still am holding out hope that he can be a nice player.

I really don't get why the hot players didn't get the buckets. Hunta looked ripe for 20pts and AB should have put up more shots in the second half. No, let's just let people fumble and bumble and not score.
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

1. Pitiful defensive performance.  Does Smart really make this much difference?

2.  Good teams have figured out IT.  Aggressively trap him and he lacks the pg skills to make teams pay.

3.  I'm not one of those guys obsessed with rim protection but we badly need more shot blocking in the line up.

4.  This team is pretty clearly good enough to play .500 ball.  With the improvement of the East, though, that might not be enough to make the playoffs.

Mike

1. Yes Smart is so vital in CBS defensive schemes..too bad the guy is made of glass

2. IT needs to head back to being 6th man. That is where he makes  his living feasting on opposing teams second stringers

3. I would really give Jordan Mickey a long hard look at this point. The guy is a walking blockshot specialist.

4.this team will still make the playoffs .hopefully stay out of the Cavs way .

1. Smart isn't made of glass he's made of a hard plaster type substance unfortunately they don't make Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline.n wrecking balls out of plaster so smart gets hurt

I want to see Smart guarding Curry. That'd be an interesting matchup. I think he is a smart enough defender to give Curry problems, as long as the refs don't bail Curry out every single play.

but they will..he has been anointed the best player in the game, and with that comes special treatment.

Smart will stay healthy eventually. He's only 21.

In the second half yes, but so did everyone else. Everyone played badly. Again Lee was +4, so his impact was a positive one all around.

This team is different without Smart. I firmly believe that. We're just going to have to swallow this and prepare for Philly, if that's even necessary.
