I agree with Donoghus. Take the consensus #1 guy. Really seems like that'll be Simmons. Have we seen an open-floor attacker and passer like him since LeBron? I'm excited to see more of him.
Example: Would you rather have Wiggins, or Jabari and Exum? I'd take Wiggins every time.
Jury is still out, isn't it?
Couldn't Jabari, Exum, or even both of them be better than Wiggins in the future?
Could they be? Yes.
Would I feel better about my chances with Jabari and Exum versus Wiggins? No, not at all.
Of course, you could use a counter example like Anthony Bennett versus Victor Oladipo and Cody Zeller.
The lesson for me is that if there is a consensus #1 guy, you take that guy. Don't trade the pick.
In a strong draft, there's a solid chance that there will be two guys at #2 and #4 who would be worth more than the #1 pick alone (e.g. Derrick Favors and Demarcus Cousins versus John Wall in 2010), but is your team likely to take those two guys, or will you end up with Evan Turner and Wesley Johnson?
