I am distressed that Crowder played 37 minutes last night in the game before a back to back.  This screams at me that we have virtually NO true depth at the SF spot!!!

Can we get a quasi-starting SF for Zeller and a future (late) first rounder??

What teams out there might have a SF to spare?

Thanks for the assistance!!

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Trade, free agency.
Possibilities:

Harrison Barnes
Tobias Harris

Or wait for draft night 2016.

I think he just left Crowder in because he was playing well. Crowder's in solid shape and I don't think he'd be overly affected playing in back to backs.
We do have Evan Turner and Jerebko to play behind him if needed so we're not deathly thin.

Hopefully Ben Simmons or Brandon Ingram are SF options for us on draft night.

Read that last line again. One more time.

  • A true Celtic plays with heart.
Gallinari would also be a decent acquisition considering he signed on for a lucrative contract. Barring the medical examination, I expect Gallinari to fit well in CBS's system.

The game deciding 16-0 run last night was full of SFs.  Crowder, Jerebko, Turner, Hunter all on the floor with KO.

I was hoping the Celtics would get Tobias Harris during free agency.  I'd still like to see them acquire him.  Orlando also has Fournier at SF and Gordon should get some play there too even though he's listed as a power forward.  Orlando is lacking size and we have big men to spare.  I think Bradley could be a good fit with Elfrid Payton and Oladipo.

Perhaps, Zeller, Bradley, and Jerekbo could get a conversation with Orlando started.  That would free up time for RJH and Rozier too.

For Zeller and a late 1st--there's not many valuable SF's available. For that price; any SF we trade for would likely start behind Crowder.

Here are a couple of teams that may have a SF to spare:

Minnesota- Shabazz Muhammad
Houston- KJ McDaniels
Pacers- Chase Budinger? (Might have to include some cash in the trade)
Knicks- Cleanthony Early? (would the Knicks do it?)
Trailblazers- Harkless (Doubt it)

When Smart comes back Turner can move back to the 3. If we make a move for a SF I think it'll be down the road and be a major acquisition, as Chambers said. I don't see the need to make a small deal for a player of Crowder/Turner's caliber.

what's wrong with Crowder? We have a young good 3.

Gallinari's health worries me, and I think he's probably best defensively at the 4.

Tobias Harris is interesting, but there's the same problem there where he's probably best as a small-ball 4.

I'd prefer to wait until the Celts can acquire a wing who can reliably shoot the three and at least adequately defend the 2, 3, and smaller 4s.

In free agency next summer, Batum would probably be at the top of my list.  Parsons could be an option as well, though his knee issues are concerning.

It's hard to find a good candidate via trade.  Wilson Chandler, maybe?  He's got health issues, too.

Finding a good 3-and-D wing in the draft might be the best way.
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

If we wait towards the end of the trade deadline I wouldn't be surprised if we landed Chandler Parsons from Dallas. No way they pay him that much money with the stats he's putting up. Look out for Hayward too if Utah doesn't seem to be in the playoff picture by the trade deadline.

Nothing is wrong with crowder he just isn't a 30+ mpg starter on a good team. I feel he is best suited as he was used last year as a 20-25 mpg high energy sub. His stats from last season to this season show less productivity per 40. I view the ideal pairing bein a 15ppg scoring Sf starting with smart ad crowder coming off the bench with IT.

Gotta really believe that the Celtics are looking at the very real possibility that their future at SF is coming through the draft next spring. With three top 20 picks in play with two being in the lottery and one possibly top 5, Ainge has to be looking at the draft for the next difference making SF of this team. The plethora of wing talent this draft has been dually noted.

That's not saying that anyone the Celtics draft would be making a difference anytime soon but it makes sense for them to consider the big picture and it just might make the most sense being patient in trying to find the next great wing star for the Boston Celtics

Crowder - SF
Jerebko - PF
Turner - SG/PG
Hunter - SG

Crowder would be a great backup, but we're not winning a title with him playing 37 min a game there

When Brooklyn goes 0-82 and lands us Ben Simmons, that is how to get a SF.
