It depends on where our pick is really.   I do not think we have looked great so far.   So our pick could be valuable.

Agree here.......as long as we are relying on bench level talent ......this team walks the fine line between winning and losing.   Each game must be dang near perfect coached and great effort .....

Celtics can 't win on LeBron type abilities ....we have no dominate player ....sigh... :'(

We are much like the Hawks ......everything has to click ......no Star to step up and carry the load.

We could wind up with a late lottery pick.

In a heartbeat!
I'd ask for GS unprotected first in the same year.
Likely it would be a late, late 1st round pick.
Ours will be anywhere from lottery to mid-round pick-if history dictates our position.

Barnes is a potential All-Star and an upgrade.  An incredible talent who has not developed yet into a max contract deal.

Crowder-who has a been a surprise-brings defense and grit.  However, Crowder is replaceable I wouldn't be surprised if Ainge would throw in someone else.

Ainge would see this deal as a coup d'etat.
Might be better to do it early in the season.  If Barnes starts putting up numbers, the price will go up.
Wonder if GS can keep Barnes under the new Cap.

Besides, each time we have traded with GS, it has been a good thing!

No.

Jae Crowder is on an excellent deal, and while he's not as athletic, he can do most of the things Harrison Barnes does.

Barnes also wants to get paid as much as Draymond Green.

I'd pass.

I like Harrison Barnes, but I would not talk deals until offseason and go after him by making an offer and doing a sign and trade.  I would like to see how he develops this year (and how Crowder develops) and where our picks are going to land.  Since he is an RFA, I would downgrade the pick if I was to make an offer and send Crowder and 2 seconds rather than our first.

2016 Celtics pick+
Jae Crowder

For Harrison Barnes.

Keep in mind Barnes is an RFA at the end of this season.
This trade is also about giving us his RFA rights to match any offers on him.
He's just turned 23, so will be 24 years old at the start of next season.
no.

not a big fan of Barnes -- overrated by a number of people here.

our pick could also be a lottery pick and I wouldn't give that up by itself, nevermind with Crowder, for Barnes.

I think that'd be a fair gamble, but Crowder doesn't have the shooting stroke to make it worth it for Golden State.

The Warriors should keep their team exactly as is and just see where this group can take them.  They could win a second title this year, provided they stay healthy.  Figure Barnes out in the off-season.

I'm not sure that Crowder can do what Barnes is capable of. His potential isn't that he can only turn into a high flying finisher like Paul George but a legitimate NBA ball focal point. This is the guy that was once described as being the closest thing to Kobe since he came into the league.

As of right now though he hasn't shown anything to make it seem that he's ready to be the focal point of a well built offense but its tough to blame that entirely on him either because of the nature of how GS operates. When you have the reigning MVP and possibly best shooter of all time running the show you cant expect the coaching staff to change the offense all that much simply to develop Barnes.

For Barnes to show out as the all star player that he always seemed to be destined for out of high school, he's going to need to find a situation that can afford him more than a 15% usage rate. Maybe we'd be the right fit.

I know that everyone touts our system as entirely about 5 players moving the ball with no one commanding much individual attention but lets also not forget that one of Brad Stevens most successful teams at Butler was centered around Gordon Hayword creating for his teammates and everyone else filling in around him. Barnes has the work ethic, body type and demeanor of an NBA superstar but its whether or not it's his own fault for being passive or GS's inability to feature him whats clear is that how GS uses him is not conducive to his strengths.

This summer there are going to be many teams vying for his services but IMO what would make Boston an intriguing destination for him is that he'd be able to walk into a developed system and secure assurances from DA and Stevens on how he'd be used that were never offered to him in GS. Finding the right situation is one of the top 3 reason that player chooses a destination. They need to know that they will be put in a position to succeed right from the start.

James Harden went from averaging 16.8 PPG in OKC to 25.9 in Houston.

Gordon Hayword went from 16.2 to 19.3 PPG when Utah decided feature his as their franchise cornerstone

Barnes only averaged 10.1 on 48% shooting last year but if he could get that up to the high teens to add to his value as a floor spacer and cutter he might just be our best option to secure the type of top flight wing that we'll if we ever want to think about getting through Lebron and back to the finals. Jae Crowder is an excellent fit on this team but he's just not that type of player.

I love Barnes with an increased role in Stevens' system. Might be tough, wonder if GSW will be auctioning off his RFA rights after the season or if they just want to pay him. I doubt they trade him during the year, especially with how they've looked so far. If I am that GM I am not rocking the boat.

Barnes isn't my favorite and I love what Crowder brings but Crowder isn't a starter-on-a-contender caliber player. He could be a specialist on a stacked team but otherwise, he's going to top out as a good role player. Barnes has the potential to be more, so the deal would be a no brainer. But as someone else said, I doubt GS would ever agree to it.

no like Ive said before I think we are mot making the playoffs and further more I hope we have a horrible record due to a better East, trades within the team, a changing core to make room for young talent......I would be the happiest guy in the world if our own record was under 24 wins and the nets were the same or worse.
