Celtics got beat by a better and more talented team.  Our best player IT is probably the 3rd of 4th best player on Toronto - and talent wins - especially when it plays well, as Toronto did tonight.

That all said it after 2 games and pre-season it appears this team has a rebounding problem.  And it needs to be able to perform better offensively on nights like tonight when the 3 isn't falling.

Both teams attempted 26 3's - they made 4 more = difference in game.

Rebounding problem = same old same old for the Celtics of recent years. This is why Lee, Amir, and Sully should be getting big minutes.

I think these things sort themselves out over time but I especially agree on Lee.  If he's not deserving of big minutes, drop the win projection by 3-5 games.  I really think he's a key guy for this season - because of his ability to score and rebound.

Toronto is the first legit team we have played ... Up until then it has been exclusively Brooklyn, Philly, Knicks and euros.

Rough game.

we were Awful....but the refs kept Toronto IN this game in the 1st half...We should have been up 10-15 points at halftime.....We still would have lost, cause we sucked in the 2nd half.

Yup, has been scrimmages until now.  Tonight was real competition.  Not sure if Brad was holding them back or if he just had a bad night.

Not going back to IT until 4min left in the 4th?   Keeping Turner out there despite the fact that Derosen was killing him?   I would have liked to see a lot more Amir and IT down the stretch, and a lot less Zeller/Turner.

Also, David Lee has to find a way to make a difference.   Too many hungry bigs behind him to be playing himself back into shape.

Lack of in-game flexibility on Brad's part imo. Sounds like a harsh, "and who the heck are you?" statement, but seems true.

The frontcourt needs to be figured out sooner than later. I'm sure it will, just stating the obvious. Don't want to be giving up potential Ws because we don't have rotations/good command of roster in order as quickly as possible.

thomas a ball hog.  Tries to do it all on his own.  Not a good team player tonight.  Stevens did not do good job with lineups.  Sully needs more burn.  He is a gamer.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Toronto made some very tough shots in the 4th quarter.
Turner, Smart and Crowder were playing incredible defense and Toronto just hit everything.
DeRozan's turn around fading jumpshots, Joseph's fade away. Just one of those nights.

IT was great.
25 points 7 assists 2 steals.

I just wish Bradley would stop shooting long two's, and I wish they would run more offense for Lee. Lee is our only true scorer in the starting line up. Either that or they need to run more for Marcus to get him attacking the basket early on.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

No class in our team, just good players. They really are good, with all their strengths and weaknesses, but that's just not enough for what we expect. They'll be fighting for that spot no.8 but and that's it.

Sorry, but so what? We should appreciate that we have a player like Thomas on our team, who can actually do something with the ball in his hands. Imagine the contrary, who would produce the points for us if Thomas wasn't on our team? Smart, Evan Turner or Bradley?
My point is, as long as Thomas is efficient with the ball in his hands (he was +4 out there); he can ball hog as much as he wants to.
Instead of criticizing Thomas, we should criticize the way we played defense on Carroll and Ross. Furthermore, Turner should also be scrutinized for his bad performance given that he kept turning over the ball and chucking up shots to no avail.
Jack of all trades, master of none.

Needed a lot less Evan Turner last night. It was excruciating watching him stay out there with every grouping in the second half.  More minutes for Crowder, Smart and even R.J. Hunter and we can cut back on the stupid turnovers.

Also Amir Johnson is our best big; he should be seeing more than 19 minutes, unless they're managing his ankles or something.
