He hasn't resigned in Det yet and if they think he doesn't want to stay after this year it would make sense for them to quietly shop him or at least be open to deals. right? Maybe we could trade some picks in as well as some guys we may not want long term. We would probably still have a lot of picks left over for a follow up trade.

Drummond
Lee/Amir
Crowder
AB/IT
Smart

That isn't a championship team, but it is closer.

Bingo.

Pretty much what he said.

Doing this allows DET over 10 million in cap space flexibility to go after anyone in FA, and then just snatch up Drummond with Bird Rights. It appears that SVG is dead set on keeping Drummond, so anything less than a superstar offer, Drummond is most likely staying as a Piston.

It certainly makes sense for both sides to wait and Drummond will get 5 years for $120 million due to cap expansion.

No "probably" about it -- that's exactly what Stan Van Gundy said yesterday:

Quote
"Andre wants to be here long-term," Van Gundy told reporters in Detroit. "He wants us to have the flexibility to continue to add people to this team." This understanding mimics a move the San Antonio Spurs did with star Kawhi Leonard a year ago. Leonard also delayed his signing, and that bit of cap management allowed the Spurs to free up enough cap space to sign free agent LaMarcus Aldridge. Once Aldridge was officially signed, Leonard then signed a five-year, $90 million max contract extension.

Does he have the skillset to play in CBS system.   I think not.   I see him going to LA or somewhere like that.

plus he will get more money next summer when the cap increases.  There is no way Detroit doesn't match a contract offer to Andre so his only shot at getting out is signing a QO like Monroe and I can't see him doing that since Detroit will offer him a full max.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Sully 2 1st, Lee?

he declined probably to stay for the bigger contract with Detroit with the new TV deal.

Still shouldn't stop us from offering though :)
