Dwight Powell is killing them w/ 12pts on 5/8 9rbs 3ast and 2 blks +13 lol

would you trade Crowder for Powell ??

I still don't get why we had to give up Powell in the trade.

We needed the roster spot.  We had 14 players before the trade, and needed three spots to bring in all the players. One spot was open, Rondo provided another, and Powell gave us the last one (and is probably the reason a 2nd was included)

Actually, zero spots were open.  We had to waive Fav.  But yes, it was a roster spot issue.  Retrospectively I'd probably have waived Pressey, but Phil gave us some good minutes last year, so I'm not going to fret about that.  We got a decent second round pick for a guy who'd just been a second round pick.  Maybe Danny finds a new Dwight Powell in the second round of the next draft.  He'll be there.

Isn't that Jordan Mickey?

Might be.  But the pick we got for Powell is in the 2016 draft, so that's why I said "the next draft."

Dallas is playing well so far.

A well-coached veteran team.

Their pick right now is around #20.

Better that the start the season on a high note.
That will keep them from tanking as they chase the playoffs.
I've no doubt that they will fail over the course of the season.
To old and rickety at key positions to keep it up especially in the west.

agreed.  fully expect other teams with better rosters to catch them and push them out of the playoffs.

at least Dirk is helping his team win games as opposed to another old player -- Kobe

Yes, to all of this.

Also, I'm not worried about Dwight Powell looking good in Dallas. He's benefiting from the same role that Brandan Wright did. In Dallas people were talking about all his potential but he's really a mediocre role player with Rick Carlysle and Dirk Nowitzki making him look like something special. I don't think Powell could crack the Celtics' rotation right now.

You're right, I forgot Fav was even a person lol

I can't blame Danny for waiving Powell instead of Pressey, though,  considering that Powell hadn't shown anything yet (not that he had a chance to), while Pressey had shown that he was at least an end of bench player
I'm bitter.

Dallas going toe to toe with the Spurs. Wes Matthews really was a huge pick up for them. And Dirk seems to have exactly the same athleticism and production he had in their championship year...

Still, a loss is a loss and the whole western conf. is finally hitting its straps

I'm starting to think that the Mavs aren't that good and it's just that the West fell off a cliff this year.  Seriously, the 7-8 Clippers are the 8 seed right now?

As long as there are 8 teams that can finish with a better record than Dallas then this would be welcome news.  I think the depth in the west is overrated this year, but I expect the Clippers to be north of 50 wins by seasons end.

My bigger concern re: Dallas is that NO and maybe even HOU won't be able to dig themselves out of the hole they started the season in, and thereby being one/two less teams to finish ahead of Dallas in the playoff picture.

They have had the easiest schedule in the league so far according to ESPN.

yes, it is only 16 games, but when the schedule toughens up like it has the last 3 games , hopefully they continue to slide back down the standings.

You failed to mention that we're just one spot ahead of them in 29th.  Also our EWL is shown as 10-5 but our record is only 8-7.  So this implies we've had an easy schedule so far and we've underperformed.

been saying that since the summer in terms of the Mavs.  they'll be out of the playoffs looking in before the all-star break
