Preseason is not for you to learn thinks but for the players to learn each other and the coach.

The worst you can do in preseason is to judge by the results

I think the opposite, I think we can learn a lot about certain players their conditioning and which folks they are compatible with.

The tank talk was trolling, I can 't believe some fell for it.

Fantastic post.

It's going to be doom and gloom this season and the next five. Strap in guys, we should have tanked thrice.

After watching some highlights, I have come to some definitive conclusions about this team:

- David Lee was trying so hard against this Euro team. He's gonna get in the way of our tanking.
- Marcus Smart had a nice steal, but was only able to lay it in in the open court. Smart's weight is a major concern.
- People talk about Sully being fat, but Isaiah Thomas hasn't grown an inch since I last saw him.
- Olynyk hasn't grown an inch either with regards to facial hair.
- We're all gonna die someday.

9/10.

You actually had me raging until the line about KO's facial hair. Nice job.
My biases, in order of fervor:
Pro:
Smart, Brown, Hayward, Tatum, Kemba, Grant Williams, Sleepy Williams, Edwards!

Anti:
Kanter, Semi, Theis, Poierier

"We play Brooklyn and people say they'll be bottom 5, so theyre not a real basketball team"

supports doomsayer argument that just because we might look good in preseason we wont be any good this year.

later in post:

"I actually think Brooklyn will make the playoffs"

conveniently supports doomsayer argument that our Brooklyn pick wont be any good, but completely contradicts initial argument in post

classic larbrd33
TP

People have been saying for months that New York and Brooklyn are bottomfeeder teams.  If you subscribe to that theory, it's unfortunate that we will not see a competent team until the 30th.

I actually think both those teams are fine, but they are top-heavy. I suspect guys like Melo and Brook lopez will not play much in preseason.  Not much can ever really be learned from preseason anyways.  I'm just anxious to see this team play some competition.

Predictions are nice, but facts are better. The fact is that in the Nets' loss to an 'amateur' team, Lopez played more minutes than all but one of our starters in our 33 point blowout victory.

When facts don't fit his narrative...

The Nets "Big 3" Lopez (23 min), Johnson (24 min), and Young (26 min) all played and they still lost to some "scrubs" at home nonetheless.

Oh, and that Real Madrid squad we play tomorrow is actually very good. Rodriguez, Llull, Nocioni, Ayon, Hernangomez, Fernandez, and Jeff Taylor (former Hornet) comprise the team.

I would not qualify 26 minutes as a "lot of time" in a real NBA game.

That said, excited for Real Madrid. Lots of fun players on that team.

Last season Lopez and Young both averaged 29 mpg and although Johnson averaged 34 mpg reports are that they plan to reduce that number considerably this season.

Fair enough, although I stay by what I said.

Fenerbahce is an excellent team.  Much more on par with Real Madrid who Boston is playing today.  Should be a much better test than Milano was.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

  • Eagerly Awaiting the Next Fantasy Draft
I think in terms of how good the team is we probably won't learn anything until a month or two in. However, I think the preseason will show how players fit with each other, what kind of offense the team is going to run and maybe even what the rotations will be.

FYI, I hope that who Stevens picks to start isn't who starts the season.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

I don't know anything about European teams.  Madrid could be much better than yesterday's result.  However, what the Celtics showed, for that game at least, is that they will not play down to the opponent's level...that they came to win.  Loved that it was a team effort game through.  Better teams have fallen into the trap of slacking off or playing All Star type hero ball rather than team ball against  a team they don't perceive as a threat.  Go Celts!
Yesterday is history.
Tomorrow is a mystery.
Today is a gift...

Yeah my bad.  I was just commenting about the people that said the Nets lost to a scrub team while Boston blew their scrub team out.  Fenerbahce was a top 4 team in Europe last year (and that was before it added some NBA guys in the off season).  Milano is not (lost in round of 16 this past season).  Madrid won the Euroleague last year, so it is the cream of the crop in Europe and should provide a much better test and gauge for the Celtics.

Can you imagine what Larbrd would have been posting if we lost this "meaningless" game?

Do teams not get credit for beating the teams they are suppose to beat, and not playing down to the level of their competition?

Do you HONESTLY believe Brad Stevens and the rest of the Front Office / Coaching staff will learn NOTHING from these games?

What a joke of a thread.
