basketball was sport of endurance not line changes, you came off because of foul trouble or injury not to give a rookie minutes--the old celts ran the opposing team into the ground-
todays game of intensity/athleticism at both ends  for bursts maybe causing more injuries-smarts ferocity at summer league and his dislocated fingers are an example,-

basketball was sport of endurance not line changes,

I think this is still true for teams that are good.  The top teams play their top 7 or so players and that is what works best for them.  Teams  like the Celtics who don't have the top end talent feel it is better to play 10 deep.  The reason isn't to get rookies minutes.  It is that the coach thinks it is the best chance to win.

And in terms of injuries, I don't know that it makes sense to conclude that playing fewer players more over more players less will lead to less injuries.  Players are going to play hard (and should play hard) either way.

i see where brad is coming from he is going hound the guards all game and run there bigs into the ground,
no breaks-make there starters unable to keep up with isaiah in 4th-zeller can run ,jerebko can run ,rozier ,amir has motor, kelly can run-grind up their guards, exhaust them and the small ball lineup becomes giant-

dude no kidding but the way the celts are playing with wholesale shift changes and hustling both ends for a short period then another change play as hard as you can both ends and another change-it was just a metaphor for what brad is doing with his balanced roster,
in the another time period, starters played most of the game and coach went 7 deep-no coasting like sully ,no vacations like lebron takes-
the celtics have always prided themselves on d and pace-

We are playing this style because of our talent.   Which is a lot of mid talent guys who are decent without a star.   Our best chance is to wear the other team down, not beat them in one on one matchups or isolation.   CBS is trying to win using what we have, it has nothing to do with hockey.

I get where you are coming from, rollie.  Using depth--and, hopefully, pace and aggressive defense along with that depth--looks like it will be the Cs calling card for success this season.
DKC Seventy-Sixers:

PG: G. Hill/D. Schroder
SG: C. Lee/B. Hield/T. Luwawu
SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas
C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

Last year, James Harden played the most minutes in the NBA at 2981. It's the first time no player has played 3000+ minutes in a non-lockout season since 1959.

So yeah, players are playing less minutes these days. I don't think there's a problem with that.

Would Sully be competing for starting goalie?
