I watched the first half.  KO was on Scola most of the first half.  Scola hit a lot of midrange jumpers when Kelly was sagging on picks.  Scold beat him once on a nice move down low with his left hand and slipped a screen once on him for a layup that should have been contested by a weak side defender.

KO had a nice rebound coast to coast play for an awkward pull up layup looking shot that was nice.  He also had a great touch pass alley oup to Bennet for a dunk.  He was KO. Some great looks that his teammates couldn't finnish, I remember a sweet pass on a back door to Joseph that Corey didn't go up strong with and dropped it off to someon else who got fouled.  Basically he moved the ball, played position defense and got uncontested rebounds.

Uh oh. Who would have thought of it - KO being a D liability.  ;D

Uh yeah,  the great famous NBA D god Scola was like Mutombo out there too!

Easy game for the Canadians against Cuba, winning 101 - 59 with a lot of bench play.

Next games agaisnt Venezuala and Puerto Rico are must wins.

Ouch--KO had 6 points on 2-6 shooting, all 2s, , 3 boarda, an assist, a block, and a steal, with 4 fouls in 16 minutes against a decidedly inferior Cuban team.

Very nice game by Olynyk in a must-win situation against Venezuela. 14 points on 8 shots, 8 rebounds and 6 assists (with 5 TOs).

Check out the video for a couple of big-to-big alley-oops. Gorgeous passes by Kelly:

Think about what you just said.  They should cream them.

Stauskas has really played well.  Wish Boston could have gotten him somehow instead of letting the Sixers get him.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

You won by 20, don't you think the must win was a little too much hyperbole?   eh?

I too, think Staukas could have helped us.  Long range shooting is always nice, hopefully Hunter can perform that role for us.

In a tournament, most games are essentially must wins (especially with one loss already)...don't see the point in you calling out that statement just for the heck of it/downplay the result. It was a good win for them.

KO just had a pretty [dang] impressive game--
15 pts
5/10 2pt
1/2 3pt
3/4 ft
9 rb (3o/6d)
4 ast
4 blk
0 to

and... wait for it... *1 foul* in 25 minutes.
I'm admittedly a KO fan, but this stat line, given his known weaknesses, is pretty [dang] good.
I'd be happy if he could turn out stat lines like this on a fairly regular basis this season.

FWIW, his average for the 4 games:

11.5 pts
7.5 rbs (2.5 o/5 d)
3.75 ast
50% 2 pt
22% 3 pt (blech)
86% ft
1.75 blk
.5 stl
2 pf
2 to
23.5 mpg

obviously the competition wasn't as stiff as NBA, but even still, I honestly feel his stat line indicates that he's putting in the work to address the weaknesses in his game (*did you see those rebounds, blocks, and lack of fouls???*)

Welcome to the CB and here is your first TP!

A link to the highlights:

and another one to the stats:
http://www.americas2015.com/en/box.asp?g=B&n=9&r=11755

For Basketball Canada:

"Kelly Olynyk led Canada to a strong start, scoring 8 points with three rebounds in the first quarter. The Men’s National Team were clicking offensively, freeing teammates up for lay-ups or forcing Puerto Rico to foul."

I like the fact that Kelly is among the leaders of the team. He can use some confidence going into training camp.

Let us hope it lasts more than his first missed shot, Captain Obvious.

I think Sully got a lot of cred from peeps for getting in better shape but I think KO has already been doing that for a several years.  KO deserves just as much if not more because his arms look bigger and leaner.

He could replace Zeller as our starter if he could do that in regular season.
