1. What "rumors"? A link would be helpful.

2. Even if true, I have a hard time believing that the Kings would deal one of the main reasons why Rondo signed with them. He and Gay are good friends.

3. Why does this package of players work for the Kings, when they have Rondo, Collison, and McLemore (not to mention Belinelli and Seth Curry) already slated for the available minutes in the backcourt?

I don't see the point of that trade for either team.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Money and Darren Collison being the prime competition for minutes are the main reasons why Rondo signed with the Kings.  He was pretty devoid of offers this summer.

Oh, to be sure. Another main reason was, as you said, Rondo wasn't exactly awash in offers. But his longstanding friendship with Gay was a major factor.

Trading Gay at this point would shake up what already looks like a tense situation in Sacramento. And the posited trade idea doesn't really hold much incentive for the Kings, IMO.

Just checked bleacher report and there's an article (from another website) about the Bulls trying to trade for Rudy Gay.

Here's the link: http://en.yibada.com/articles/58283/20150829/nba-trade-rumors-chicago-bulls-may-explore-trade-for-rudy-gay-to-strengthen-sf-spot-taj-gibson-doug-mcdermott-likely-part-of-package.htm

As far as the above proposed trade goes; I don't think the Kings would be interested in Kelly at PF. I could be wrong but I think they'd want Sully.

It seems like any trade for Gay would involve Bradley if the Celtics are trying to evenly match salaries. Maybe a 3 team trade could be done?

Here's my proposal:

TO BOS: Gay
TO SAC: Gibson, McDermott
TO: CHI: Bradley, Turner, two future 2nds (or maybe the MIN 1st we own)

Does Chicago agree? Bradley @ SG, Butler at SF, Turner off the bench w/ Brooks to help make plays. We have additional assets that could be added to sweeten the deal.

If you look one post up you'll find one.

Don't want Rudy Gay, although I think he's judged a little unfriendly.

What?

These articles were provided to show evidence of Rudy and Rondo being friends, and the dates just happen to show how long they've been wanting to play together for. Hence Rondo's interest in joining the Kings in the first place...

Which leads to the fact that Gay is not going to be traded by the Kings.

Which also leads to the fact that there isn't much news about Gay potentially being traded because it's not going to happen.

Those links are to demonstrate just how far back Gay and Rondo go. Not to establish any credibility of trade rumors.

Rondo would have taken the Kings offer whether Gay was on the team or not.  And Rondo doesn't have the kind of pull where the Kings are going to hold off on trades in order to keep him happy.  He's kind of not a big deal anymore.

There is a major difference between the Chicago Bulls wanting to trade for Gay and Gay being available.

No way that they would trade Gay now, if they did I hope the C's are all over it, he is on a great contract now.
2019 historical draft.  Pick 12

Tim Duncan, Oscar Robertson, Elgin Baylor, Scottie Pippen, Willis Reed, Mitch Richmond, Sam Jones, Dan Majerle, Bob Cousy, Rasheed Wallace, Shawn Kemp, Marcus Camby

Only if Sac is willing to throw in a draft pick.

  • Peace it's a board. We all will never agree.
I think Boggie would be the first to go if they do not gel under Karl. Gay would be the next out the door.
