  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Which teams will improve on their 2015 record?

Candidates & their presumable line ups:

Knicks:18 wins last year. Calderón,  Afflalo,  melo, Porzingis, R Lopez. +Derrick Williams+Kevin  Seraphin
Sacramento : 29 wins last year. Rondo, Mclemore, Gay, Cousins, Koufos, Cauley Stein.
OKC : 45 wins last year. Durant, Westbrook, Ibaka,  morrow, Kanter etc
Miami: 37 wins last  year. Dragic, Wade, Deng,  Bosh,  Whiteside.
Orlando: 25 wins last year. Payton, Oladipo, Harris, Heznoja, Vucevic. Scott Skiles new coach.
Detroit : 32 wins last year. Reggie Jackson, Drummond, Caldwell Pope, Ilyasova, morris, Meeks,  jennings. Van Gundy as coach.
Wolves: 16 wins last  year. Rubio, Martin, Wiggins, Garrett,  Towns, Pekovic,  Lavine, Deng,  Muhammed, Payne.

I think the Wolves and Knicks mainly because they were so horrid last year, and OKC because they're a top 4 team.
Dark horses for me: Miami, Detroit.

Lakers and Knicks to be sucked into a vortex of mediocrity. Utah to scare the playoff teams.

I'm not convinced the Knicks will be any better.  Affalo was terrible last year, Calderon is getting older, and IMO their big rotation is very subpar.  Too much of the scoring load again on Melo.

Cleveland only won 53 games last year.

I wouldn't be surprised to see them win 60+.  I think they could realistically see a 10-12 game improvement.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

Agree regarding CLE. Not on the list, but think it's very possible the Bucks significantly improve, especially if Jabari comes back strong. And in spite of the competition, and the fact that a pick-up type game suits him so well, Giannis looked impressive in the Africa game. Only a matter of time till their young'ns turn the corner imo.

Knicks.  20 wins would get them to 38.

I think OKC makes the largest single-season leap of any team this year. Take a 45 win team, add a healthy Kevin Durant, etc.

Then maybe Minnesota and Sacramento.

Then the Knicks?

Although I believe that once we go 82-0 this year we will have broken our own record for a single-season turnaround.

lots of teams figure to improve over last year but the big question is, other than Portland, Nets and Dallas, which teams figure to be that much worse to cough up all those wins to 'improved' teams?

for the record, I think Miami will see the biggest jump in wins from last year.

Has to be OKC. With everyone healthy they are probably a top 3 team.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

The Orlando Magic will be the most improved team. The intro to this post does not even mention Aaron Gordon who could potentially become their best player this year. Jason Smith and CJ Watson are nice additions for them, provide toughness and spot-on jumpers off the bench or if there are injuries. The Magic really seem poised to make a playoff run this year for the eighth seed in the East. They don't have a superstar but I don't really see any glaring holes in the roster either and they have a bunch of nice players in the rotation. I would say OKC but the whole foot thing with Durant is unpredictable, it seems like foot injuries have a tendency to linger or come back even after the player receives clearance to play.

How many more wins do you think they'll garner, though? They won 25 games last year, and 'competing for the 8th seed' means, what, 10 more?

Wow how did I miss them?
You're 100% right. Will add them.

The Lakers followed closely by the Sixers, Knicks, and Thunder and all in the 15-20 win range.  Cavs and Wolves should be in the 10 to 15 win range.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip
