LeBron has always given back and I've never understood why anyone would hate him
I think he's taken on this Jordan model of being a businessman. I mean, everyone in the NBA (and other pro spotrs) has to a degree. Jordan changed everything and basically invented the way we talk about "branding" in pro sports now. But James came into the league with such huge expectations and fulfilled those expectations about as well as possible and has always been aware, from a very early age, how valuable he is. It's almost like he's never not been famous, because even before he hit the national stage (which was when he was 16 or 17) he was a local celebrity.
I can't imagine what it's like to become an adult under those circumstances but I think the result is that he sometimes seems disingenuous in interviews. It turns people off.
