Say it is just Lee and the first for Lopez (there are certainly other trades possible but that is the cleanest one and since I didn't think Lee would be around next year anyway the one that made the most sense to me).  Do you do it?

If not now, do you do it if the Nets are in playoff contention in the middle of the season?

Nope -- not interested in acquiring Brook Lopez. Too many health issues and a worrying track record of slacking on defense & rebounding.

No.

I was interested in signing Brook Lopez (though scared by the idea, too), because it would make the Nets worse and perhaps he could be a trade asset a year or so down the road.

That ship has sailed, so no sense in giving up value to get him.

No way.

Injury concerns and that new contract are the main detriments to me.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
Count me in on the no guys.

Too much injury concern and the potential of those picks being really good weighs more than what Brook Lopez coukd give us for me.

NO.

I'd take the gamble that the Nets pick will be a top 5 pick. Even if it ends up being a top 10 pick, I still say no.

No for now. If we and the Nets were both in playoff contention, and Lopez was healthy all season so far, then probably. But in that case the Nets probably don't do it. I'd do it if it were part of a deal where they also sent out either JJ or Thad Young to another team, as that would make them much worse for next season too.

I would if it was the 2017 swap rights Brooklyn pick not 2016. That way they can really tank hard in 2017 and are still horrible this year. Everyone wins.

not interested. he gives us much-needed offense, but odds are high he gets a career-ending injury in the near future. and we've already seen his teams fail in the playoffs before, even with some decent talent around him, he's not a winner.

from the nets' standpoint, dumping lopez probably locks them in at a top-5 pick. so that's as good an offer as they're likely to get for him.

but considering they also owe us their 2017 and 2018 picks as well, they will have a very tough time building a young team (unless they get creative and pick up more first-rounders somehow). i wonder if they wouldn't rather keep lopez and try their luck in free agency. that would be a long shot, as i doubt any free agent of consequence will want to go to that horrible situation they have there. it's a lose-lose situation. ultimately i think the nets make the trade, though.

glad we fleeced them and the ball is in our court.

no.

they're going to be bad this year even with Lopez.  why take on a player that has a history of injuries so that we give up what will be a high lottery pick next year and will only get higher once Lopez is off the Nets?

Let him stay in Brooklyn, eat up their cap and get splinters in his butt while on his annual injury break.

Nope. He's a talented player, but the injuries are terrifying.
Isaiah, you were lightning in a bottle.
