Idea: Olynyk and Turner to Mavs for Felton (buy out) and J. Anderson

This cannot happen until August 30th since Justin Anderson was just signed.  This would give us a SF of the future potentially to compete with Crowder and we could buy out Felton, thus freeing up a roster spot.

I may have thought of a problem with my trade.  If we simply buy out Felton, this could throw us into the luxury tax threshold, right?  Could we stretch him and then buy him out and would that help?

I wouldn't make this deal. KO is a unique big man with PG skills and ET can play 3 positions. These guys were key players last year and could play big roles this year.

This is a pretty intriguing deal actually (setting aside the cap/tax issues if any).

I guess the big questions are whether the Mavs are in win now mode - seems like that answer is "yes" - and whether they think Anderson is ready to help them right away. Not sure on that part of it.

If this trade could happen, I'd do it in a heart beat.  Personally I was hoping we were going to draft Anderson.  Also money wise, if this was to happen, we wouldn't go over the cap.

Celtics
Olynyk - $2,165,160
Turner - $3,425,510
Total = $5,590,670

We'd have to give the Mavs at least one if not two 2nd round pick though since Anderson is a first round pick.

One of my goals was to reduce our roster by one player so we could have more flexibility and be able to keep PJ III and give him a chance to become a legit NBA player!!

Could we stretch and then waive Felton to accomplish this?

I thought the reports on Anderson projected his ceiling to be a solid pro, but never a superstar.

I thought the knock on Olynyk was that he was likely to be a solid pro, but never a superstar.

Of course there's still the chance that Justin Anderson could never reach his ceiling of solid pro.  Kelly Olynyk is already a solid pro (with room to improve into an even more solid pro).

Also of note;  Anderson will be twenty-two in November.  This means that he won't be given much time.  If he's not looking like a solid starter by the end of his rookie season, he'll be tossed aside as just another low-upside, dime-a-dozen type player.

Under any other circumstance I see this as a massive overpay. OMG on stretching Felton. Are we that desperate to trade Turner and KO - both of whom I think are better than Anderson?

I do not know if I would trade these guys to the Mavs because we own their pick, certain conditions being met.
