Kareem 38387
Lebron 24913

It would take him almost 7 full seasons at 25 per game.

Is Lebron a man or a machine?

He turns 31 during this upcoming season, can he fight off Father Time like few before him?

I don't think so.

At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

I think it's unlikely. I don't see how he could stay that dominant into his late thirties. However, if anyone can do it, it's LeBron.

Lebron will likely play past the age of 40.

He isn't like other players.. his body is near indestructible.

Do playoff points count towards this total?

No only regular season

Kareem playoff total was 5762, Lebron is up to 5020 currently.

I think he gets there because I think he will play another 10 years or so and may just play that long just to break Kareem's record.

The crazy thing is he could end up in the top 10 at the end of the next season at just age 31.  Just crazy.

Yes, I think LeBron will eventually be balder than Kareem.  ;D

I don't know, but I do believe he will be in top 5 all time scoring when all said and done. Whether he will pass Kareem, will be determined by his overall health, and how easy it would be for him to score when he's on the decline. If he plays til 38-39, then I can see him be in that range.

I think LeBron will play a while longer, but I'm not sure how much longer he will continue to score 25+ points a game.  At some point he's going to have to move to PF pretty much full time and I think he'll become more of a distributor later in his career in deference to younger guys around him, perhaps Kyrie and Love.

LeBron has a lot of miles on his legs.  See how quickly Kobe declined once that caught up with him.

Yes, I believe so. If LeBrin avoids major injuries, I expect him to become the first player to record 40,000 career points + 10,000 career rebounds + 10,000 career assists.

Will be hard for Lebron to score in his late 30s though since he cant shoot that great.  So he may stuff the stats for the next couple of years, but he wont be able to rely on that 3 ball late in his career like so many do.

How many points per game would LeBron need to average over the next 8-10 years of his career to pass Kareem?  If it's lower than 20 I think it's pretty much guaranteed.

If he plays another 10 seasons and doesn't miss many through injury he would only have to average around 17-18

Doable, but the injury thing is huge.  If LeBron runs into injury issues -- like Kobe has -- due to all the miles on his legs / knees, it could prevent him from getting there.

Maybe, but Kareem did it with less league subsidies in terms of FTAs that LeBron seems to magically get when he has an off night.   Also, LeBron will never have as  many rings I think.
