The only way the "Kanter is a terrible defender" argument is "overblown" is if you're willfully ignoring that Ibaka has had two consecutive season-ending injuries. Putting all of the interior defense on his plate would be an absolute disaster and ridiculously irresponsible. If Ibaka goes down for the third time, what, you're going to rely on a very old Nick Collison to be your only reputable defensive big (I assure you, McGary isn't that guy yet nor is he close to it)? In a pivotal season for the team when KD is approaching free agency? That's absurd.
