The moniker, 'Swedish Larry Bird,' will never be replaced.

I think we should just start calling him The White Larry Bird

I thought it was because Larry's not white. Larry's clear ;D

Larry is a bit sensitive towards race, fellas.

The OP confused Sweden and Switzerland.
There are a lot of good things to be said in favour of Sweden, but army knives are not among them.

Yes, I know I am incorrigibly pedantic  ;D

Celtics are loaded with eager , guys who want to continue their career , have a shot to become players for a long time or perhaps a short route out the door.  There are no divas , locker room bums , cry babies ,  or slackers .

Most all these guys play with heart 100% ,  even practices will be dangerous ....LOL  ;D

I predict a FULL season of some of the scrappiest basketball in Boston in a long time .

Win or lose every game will be physical battle and should be fun to watch.

welllll…. Sullinger and Jones might be slackers. Evan Turner definitely used to be a diva but maybe he's growing out of it.

But I agree about the scrappy part. This team looks like it will be business-like and relentless.

  • Eagerly Awaiting the Next Fantasy Draft
The Celtics play top 10 (potentially top 5 defense).

Sullinger, Smart, Bradley and Crowder all have career years.

Celtics get a low enough seed that they have the opportunity to win in the first round.

The Nets are bad enough to get us a bottom 5 pick.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

1. 5th seed in the East
2. Smart breaks out and becomes our best player
3. Jones III breaks out and becomes our starting SF
4. Cousins is fed up and we give Sacramento Sully, AB, James Young, Jerebko and 3 first rounders (not the 16 BK)
5. We beat the Wizards in round 1 (6 games, this team is better than we thought)
6. Push the Heat to 7 games but eventually lose it.
7. Nets are the Knicks of last year after Lopez goes down for the season with a foot injury.
8. Nets "get lucky" and for the first time in Cs history we get the #1 pick
9. C's take Ben Simmons
10. Also Hunter gets on the All rookie second team as he earned a starting role 2 months before the playoffs

2016-2017 starting lineup
Smart
Hunter
Jones III
Simmons
Cousins

11. Celtics 2017 NBA Champions

Tempted to go with a "I'll have what she's having" response to this post, but I'll throw out a few predictions that I think are optimistic:

- The Celts trade Bradley and Turner and get a first round pick, an expiring, and a decent rookie contract player in return.

- Marcus Smart finishes the season as the Celts' starting shooting guard of the future with averages in excess of 10 points, 3 reb, 3 ast, 1.5 steals, and 40/33/70.  He receives votes for NBA All-Defense.

- Danny is able to consolidate some of the picks and one of the bajillion power forwards on the roster in order to acquire a player who might become a long term fixture in the starting lineup.

- The Nets and Mavericks picks both end up in the lottery, one of them in the top 10, and the Celts have the rights to both.

- Jae Crowder starts at the 3 for most of the season and posts a career best shooting percentage from three point land and at least one three point make per game.

- The Celts finish in the top 15 in offensive rating, defensive rating, and three point percentage.  They finish in the top 5 in three point attempts per game.

- The Celts win a playoff game.

- Terry Rozier works his way into the rotation and shows the potential to be a quality NBA player.  In limited minutes, he and Smart terrorize opponents on defense and show some chemistry offensively.

1.  We make a trade that makes us just good enough to make the playoffs.

2.  Our ownership makes money.

That's it, right?  ;D

I think both of those things are pretty much guaranteed -- no trade needed to make the playoffs.  The owners are always going to make money.

Until the next labor stoppage, when they will have made no money ever.

Here are my predictions (only the good ones):

-IT and Lee dominate off the bench (pick and roll/pop teams to death) and play so well that we somehow we manage to trade both for a really good but unhappy player.

-Amir Johnson plays very well as the starting center, gets extended, and is around for a while.

-Smart and Bradley have a very good year as the starting backcourt and solidify themselves as the starters.  Their pure traditional stats are average but their +/- and other advanced stats are very high.

-Sullinger finally figures it out and establishes himself as a solid starting power forward.

I am high on 4 of 5 starting positions plus the two primary bench players (actually Zeller, Olynyk, and the rest of the bench too) but unfortunately I am less so about our SF options (Crowder, Turner, Jones).  I expect Crowder to start and be fine but I don't see it as a position of much advantage for us.

There are actually relatively few people advocating for proper tanking around here these days, so maybe all you need to be happy is just open your eyes.

Of course, if you define "tanking loyalist" as anybody who suggests that making the playoffs could be a bad thing, then you're probably going to be disappointed.
