Jonas Jerebko will have a career year: he will get the nod for 1st big off the bench, average 12 and 7, shoot +37% from 3, play lockdown defense and earn the knickname the Swedish army knife.
Perry Jones will make the team and average +14 ppg over the season. He will be our starting 3 by
February.
RJ hunter will earn heavy minutes in the rotation.
Some combo of Zeller, sully, Oly and Bradley will be delt by the deadline. The return will not be great.

6th seed, first round exit.
Nets give us a top 5 pick.

The moniker, 'Swedish Larry Bird,' will never be replaced.
Isaiah, you were lightning in a bottle.

Nor should it, but why stop there...
As long as he doesn't give us reason to dub him the "Swedish Meatball"...

how about this for a prediction, we finally trade for a star this season, DMC, Melo or someone else.

I don't like to classify people as loosers but melo, with all of his baggage is earning that label.

IMO the pieces necessary to jump us into contention are not currently available.
I'm happy to watch this team improve and build asset value do when that player or players become available we have a legit shot at nabbing them.
Let's not waste our resources on expensive pieces that won't push us over the top.

optimistic predictions:
1. the Nets are worse than most predict and we end up with a top 5 pick thanks to them.
2. Dallas stinks but not enough to keep their pick.  We get theirs at #8
3. Minny has a breakthrough year and just misses the playoffs in the West.  We get their pick at #13.
4. Smart has a great year.  KO steps up and plays with more aggression and looks good.
5. Danny is able to make a deal before the season to move 3 players for 1 starter-quality player.  Guessing AB, Turner and Sully (but would prefer KO to go instead of Sully).  Sully has his breakout season elsewhere (which may not be a positive for us but I'd like to see him do well and put the people here mocking his conditioning in their place)

I think the optimism in this thread is beautiful.

I don't think the 6th seed is out of reach for this Celtics team, and it is likely (in my opinion) that DA will continue to improve this roster as the season progresses.

The Celtics make a trade in January that significantly improves the roster.

They finish the sixth seed in the east and beat the Hawks and the Bulls to make it to the ECF.

LeBron finally sustains a serious injury, allowing the Celtics to eliminate the Cavs in 6.

The Celtics face the Clippers in the Finals. They lose in game 6 of the NBA finals, where Paul Pierce hits the game winner at the garden to clinch the title.

I could so be a script writer.

Aren't they supposed to finally begin HGH testing next season--?...if so, the East is wide open.
Larry Bird was Greater than you think.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
I just posted this in another thread but this is fitting too:

Hypothetical:
Ainge will be waiting for Jimmy Butler to get fed up with Chicago when he and Rose don't get along. Butler will demand a trade, and Ainge will be able to send a treasure chest of young guys and draft picks.

We'll then have the toughest defensive back court in the NBA with Smart, Rozier, Butler and Bradley coming off the bench. Right in time for 2016-17 free agency and an exploding cap. One of our Brooklyn picks will end up in the top 5 and we'll get another stud on a rookie scale contract.
Just a dream :D
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

This would actually be awful.

We would all have to be keeping major tabs on Ogaju after Doc + Pierce got a standing ovation from the crowd.
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.
