Probably not a MVP, but if he plays like he did when he got hear before he got hurt, he has a good shot at making the All Star team. I'd be pretty happy with that next season.

6th man of the year is more likely. We'd have to be a 1-2 seed for him to even get mvp consideration.

Not a MVP candidate but potential 6th man of the year.

HAHAHA!!!

Oh wait, it's a serious thread?

No, he won't be an MVP candidate. If anything, CBS is more likely to win coach of the year. Isaiah has a strong chance of SMOY and he might almost be an all star. But if Jamaal Crawford and JR Smith and Manu Ginobili have never been MVP candidates, then odds are, IT4 won't either.

At his peak Manu's Per 36 stats were comparable to, but still worse than, Isaiah's when he was with us last year. Crawford's numbers are worse than Manu's, and Smith's are worse than Crawford's. Isaiah's Per 36 stats were actually nearly identical to Steph Curry's last year. While I don't think it's reasonable to try and make a case for Isaiah as an MVP candidate, your comparisons are off-base as well.

A full year with the C's and a better record won't get him consideration for the MVP award, but I think it definitely can win him the 6th Man of the Year Award, which he should've won last year, imo.

Remember a year ago when 90% of this board was against trading RR and dumping G Wallace for IT, Ben Mclemore , 1st round pick, and 2 fillers

Even if RR rejected it and/or it never was going to be finalized; it still says a lot that so many people were against it. It is important to remember such moments and see how far(or low) we have come.

Has there every been a team that had 2 sixth man of the year candidates? A small and a big could easily flip 6th & 7th onto the court, right? We must have a chance...

Wow, hadn't considered that. One of Lee or Sully has to come off the bench and both of those guys are liable to put up big numbers. If Isaiah remains our 6th man, then he will obviously put up numbers as well. If we have two finalists, it'll really speak to how unbelievable our depth is.

If I've learned anything from the internets it's that the consensus isn't always right.  I don't think people are thinking outside the box enough.  This roster is built for IT.

I expect the Celtics to be very good this year and unless DA pulls the trigger to get a real superstar ie Cousins before the season starts this is IT's team in the interm and it's really built for him if you look at the roster.

IT should put up huge numbers on this team barring a trade for a superstar. He is our #1 option.

Hard to be MVP if you don't start and don't play over 30 minutes per game.  Definite SMOY candidate, though.
Pretty sure a bench player has never won MVP.   6th Man is in play, though.
