Rozier, Hunter & Mickey
-for-
D Russell

Before the draft no way/no how, of course.

But now that you've seen them play a bit more?

Idk...   Russell looked pretty slow footed out there in summer league, posted terrible numbers against some subpar talent.   No cause for concern there?

I'll admit I watch zero NCAA...but from what I have seen of this kid I'm not sure why he was so highly touted.

I would have made the trade before the draft for the pick plus add some more assets, but not for Russell. He's a gifted passer and a good shooter. But as far as creating his shot and defending, I thought he was a substantial risk especially compared to Okafor. (Imagine if the Lakers had taken Okafor, the Sixers would have been up S-creek without a paddle.)

Now? I think Hunter may prove to be as good if not better. Not that Hunter is a top 5 talent, but I doubt Russell will prove to be.

I cried in joy when the Lakers picked D'Angelo Russell over Jahlil Okafor. Because that's when they screwed themselves up  ;D ;D ;D

What amuses me are these Laker fans that I'm surrounded with who are blinded by Russell's talent. At least so far in the summer league, he has been meh with that turnover percentage.

Buckeye fan in Ohio and I've been saying for awhile Russell will be a good player, but is not a franchise player.  I absolutely would have taken Okafor with the 2nd pick.

Unrealistic idea w/Lakers is a completely accurate title for this thread. Summer League play means nothing long term.

I would trade Rozier and Young for him...But I'd rather hold onto Hunter and Mickey.
Larry Bird was Greater than you think.

Considering how much more money Russell makes. I think if you threw in something else. Maybe Sully. Maybe a future protected pick. Maybe some money. You miiiiiiiggghhht be able to pull this off.

I don't think Russell is untouchable (and I don't mean a crazy trade untouchable).  I think the Lakers are in full on want to win now mode and would move Russell.  It would have to be the type of trade where they get quality players and an asset or two that could become something big.

Now I don't think the Lakers would do this (and Boston might not either), but something like Bradley, Turner, Olynyk, the 2016 Brooklyn 1st, and 2016 BOS 1st (lotto protected), would be something they might actually listen to (I know the dollars don't work out, I was just providing an example).  Gives LA a lot more depth and the BKN pick could be a jackpot.

Sorry, but three d-leaguers for a franchise prospect just isn't unrealistic enough. Let's see if we can get the Lakers to throw in Julius Randle and the rights to the 5 Minneapolis championships.

Makes no sense historically that Russell will be anything other than great.   I hope that his SL performance was indicative of a guy who was vastly overrated and taken ahead of a bunch of "sure things".  But, this is not the way it goes for the Lakers.  Russell will be great and they'll be talking about him as an ASG starter by 2017.

If we're overreacting to summer-league performances, this is the equivalent of the Orlando Magic offering us Devyn Marble, Keith Appling and Jordan Sibert for Marcus Smart.

Devyn Marble:  11 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 2.6 steals (slightly better than Rozier)
Keith Appling:  15.6 points, 3 assists, 1.2 rebounds, 3 steals  (slightly worse than Mickey)
Jordan Sibert:  11.3 points, 3 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 1 steals (slightly better than Hunter)

Randle is a deal-breaker, sorry, don't want to take him on.
