JR Giddens, JuJuan Johnson, Orien Greene, Gabe Pruitt :)

On a serious note though, I'd have to go Russell, Bird, Pierce, Havlicek and in that order.

I don't see how so many people are bumping Cousy for Pierce. I love Pierce but Cousy's resume is unassailable. He was the first Celtic superstar, the first from the team to win a league MVP and won 6 championships, all as a starter. He also made 10 straight All NBA 1st teams, led the league in apg 8 straight years, and made the all star team ever year he was in the league. I know all the arguments about generations but his importance to the league as well as to the Celtics' formation gets him in over Pierce, easily.

Cousy, Russell, Havlicek, Bird
1957, 1959, 1960, 1961, 1962, 1963, 1964, 1965, 1966, 1968, 1969, 1974, 1976, 1981, 1984, 1986, 2008

I guess there are multiple ways of approaching this. I didn't see guys like Cousy and Hondo and Cowens play, though I know they were excellent. Russell seems like an obvious choice. As does Bird. And it seems that most of us (maybe all of us) agree on those two. After that it gets dicier. For me, I'm going to go with the two Celtics who were (after Bird) my favorites to watch, and who, to me, exude "Celtics basketball": McHale and Pierce.

So ...

Russell, Bird, McHale, Pierce

There are 4 championship runs in Celtics history, the 4 centerpieces are our Mt. Rushmore.

Therefore:
Russell
Cowens
Bird
Pierce (although KG was really heart and soul, PP was the face of the generation)

Yep.  There's a good argument for Cowens over Pierce, but I like representing the different eras.  That Mt. Rushmore has the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s (yuck), and 2000s covered.

Russell, Cowens, Bird, Garnett

These are the backbone players of each championship era. Without Russell, Cousy or Sam don't win titles, without Cowens, Havlicek doesn't win in the 70's, without Bird, Max & McHale don't win and without Garnett, Pierce would never have won a title.
The Four Celtic Generals:
Russell - Cowens - Bird - Garnett

The Four Celtic Lieutenants:
Cousy - Havlicek - McHale - Pierce

TP to the OP

Russell, Bird, Havlicek, Cousy.

Same as Simmons list below though it took me a while to settle on Cousy whom I may or may not have seen as a pre-teen. His influence on the game, on the Cs, and his stature for his era were unsurpassed by even Russell whose dominance was cemented later, in the 60s.

KG was next on Simmons list, but given that the bulk of the quality of his career was with the T-Wolves, I'd go with McHale next who, at the top of his game, was the best PF of all-time. The injury to his foot, and he still limps, costs him in that race with Malone and KG, who also would be better at the top of his game than Malone.

Some here should read about Cousy and Havlicek to understand how good they were with the knowledge that the game has gone through several eras and today's ball is very different from the 50s and 60s and different from the 70s and 80s. Comparative stats are meaningless and there were always freaks of nature even in the early era like Russell and Wilt. It's still evolving with how prevalent one-and-done is becoming, small ball, the primacy of the 3FG, salary cap economics, and over-expansion  the decline of physical play, etc. off the top of my head.

Anyone who doesn't have Hondo as an automatic third is out of their mind.

I want to say Bird, Hondo, Russell, Sam Jones.  Though I guess Tommy probably deserves that final spot.

Love Pierce more than life itself, but I have no clue how to compare him with the dynasty players.  The dynasty IS the Celtics.  The dynasty is what we're all about.  11 in 13.  8 straight.  Gotta give those guys some extra credit.  We'd be nothing without that.  It's what makes us so freaking great.  It's what makes us better than the Lakers.  I could never in my life be more proud of those guys.

I feel sooooooooo unbelievably lucky/proud to live where I do and have been born a Boston Celtics fan.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale
