I can't believe no better team wanted Bass, especially after he was the starter as the Celtics finished so strongly last season.  He's a tough-minded, playoff-tested veteran who can knock down the open shot.

I think LAL is a good place for Bass.

They need a veteran PF who can start and give them 28-30 minutes a night. Randle needs to stay in a bench role for now. He is not ready for major minutes. They are more likely to cause harm than help him at this stage in his development. Randle needs to completely redevelop his entire game. Not be pushed into the limelight. He is not ready.

Lakers need a PF who has good quickness and mobility defensively to work with the slow-footed Roy Hibbert + a PF who can a hit jump-shot consistently since most of their other bigs cannot. Bass fits the bill on both counts.

I am surprised Toronto didn't make a run at Bass. They need a starting PF after Amir leaving.

Outside of the Raptors, I do not see many other possibilities.
- Cleveland = K-Love and T.Thompson
- Atlanta = Millsap and Mike Scott
- Chicago = Pau, Mirotic, Taj Gibson
- Washington = only want one year deals to stay in play for Durant next summer
- Miami = Bosh and McRoberts
- Golden State = Draymond Green, David Lee, small-ball
- San Antonio = Aldridge & Diaw
- Houston = T.Jones, Motiejunas
- LA Clippers = they have bigger problems. Need a center.
- New Orleans = Anthony Davis, Ryan Anderson
- Utah = Favors, Booker and T.Lyles
- Phoenix = Markieff Morris, Marcus Morris
- Dallas = more pressing needs than a backup PF. Needs at guard and backup C.

Maybe Memphis.

Sacramento would have been a good fit but they are a lottery team like the Lakers.

Not much of a market out there in terms of playoff teams from what I can see for Bass.

Completely agree. He deserves better. His lunch pail toughness, class and down to earth nature seems out of place in Tinsel-town.

That's all probably true, though I doubt LA will start Bass over Randle, but Indiana would rather give LaVoy Allen $4 mil a year than Bass?

Kinda surprised Orlando didn't go after him.

Prior to the draft there was talk of them moving their pick, needing both outside shooting (they got that in Hezonja) and a veteran presence at PF to be an example to their youngsters.

Bass-o-matic would've been perfect.

So what''ve they got going out there now?

Russell / Williams
Kobe
Young
Randle / Bass
Hibbert / Sacre

You're forgetting Clarkson and Tarik Black.

Draft: 8 first rounders in next 5 years.

Cap space: $24 mil.

I got a feeling Toronto might try to get David Lee in a salary dump when the dust settles.

Not to mention Marcus Morris is actually a Piston right now.

Bass was a tremendous worker. Got better every year as a pro. Really worked to become a good defender, better passer, even more range on his shot.

Those calling him garbage are acting like guys who just got dumped by their girlfriend for a cooler guy.

Let it go, fellas.

David Lee to Toronto feels like a Masai Ujiri type move. Ujiri does a good job of finding those players with depressed market value who still have a lot to offer.

I hope that happens.

Solid player, worked hard, true professional -- and I never wanted to see him play another minute for the Celtics.

Limited player who was incredibly overrated here, and apparently wasn't valued by anyone else in the NBA.

More power to him in L.A. As long as he's not in green, stealing minutes from KO, Sullinger, Mickey, Johnson, Zeller, Jerebko ...

I was going to post a picture of the old SNL bit about the "Bass-o-Matic", as a tongue in cheek reply, but was afraid that people would think poor of it because they would think I am mad at him for signing with the Lakers.

The reason I wanted to use it was how sad I was for him to have to play there, when he deserves a shot at a ring with another team.

Best wishes to you Brandon, even if it is with the Lakers.

Is there a chance to sign and trade him?

If so, I hope Bass has one last solid play for the Celtics left in him.

I'll still pull for him -- except, of course, when the Celtics are involved.
