What in the hell are the Kings doing?

So is Koufos starting now with WCS coming off of the bench? What a waste. He is NBA-ready defensively, and he could really help somebody (cough us cough) with rim protection!
If history is an indicator, we should be able to land WCS in 12 months as part of a salary dump.

Willie cauley stein is about even with biyombo. He should be a bench player.

Well, if that's the case then they should have just drafted Winslow AND sign Biyombo as a backup for Koufos. Whatever WCS will amount in the NBA is not an excuse for the incompetence of the Kings.

My guess is they were just trying to cater towards cousins
Cousins said he wanted WCS
So they got him

At that moment they needed a rim protector
So it made sense
I don't think they would have thought that they had a chance at someone like koufos

Wee this is intersting.  Te Kings moved a bunch of fodder and Stauskas to clear room for Mathews and rondo.  They dont get Mathews, but sighn Koufos.

Can anyone see a possible trade coming here?

Or are they just gonna sign another guard/wing at 6-7 miliion?
There was some talk of them going after Lou Williams.

I like this move. If they don't have the space to use him, someone will want him and pay a substantial price via trade. Not a terrible capology method when the only guy you can get in FA is a moody, diminished PG looking for a rebound.

Draft: 8 first rounders in next 5 years.

Cap space: $24 mil.

What the heck are the Kings doing? DMC, WCS and Koufos? With Rondo at the point? That team is going to be an absolute spacing nightmare. Karl's gonna quit after like two weeks.

Does anyone else think they lost out on Matthews so they figured "Hey, what's the next half recognizable name we can give all this new found money too?". I sure do.

Still doesn't make sense to pay $8.5 million to backup your lottery pick. Koufos is a good player. I wanted him to play for us, and I'm already ranting in the Amir Johnson thread that I'm starting to hate the Johnson deal because I think we could have offered the same money for Koufos and he would have signed. But he's overpaid for his role in this team, and that's what's making me scratch my head.

First, why didn't we get Koufos?

Second, who does not see a trade coming. Sac is going to trade one of their centers for back court help. Danny? MAKE IT HAPPEN !!!!!!!!!!!!

Apparently DMC wants to play PF, so they have WCS and KK to play C next to him.

I think it will blow up in their face, but they're the Kings - they're used to it.

I give the Kings credit for going for it. I mean they need to be a good team by the time DMC's contract is up or they will lose him. They know it. If they are to patient he will get mad, so they go out and get the best guys they can get. Maybe they will win some games.

It will be interesting to see how well Rondo and DMC work together as I wanted them to team up here at various points. Now I'll be able to see what it looks like.

The Kings are a terrible organization... They did the same thing last year.  They already had a promising young shooting guard prospect in Ben McLemore... so they used the #8 pick to take a promising young shooting guard prospect in Nik Stauskas.  They then stuck him on the bench without much of an opportunity... and then literally gave him away after a single season.

WCS was expected to slip in the draft.  Some thought he might fall all the way to 20.  So naturally, the Kings draft him very early (despite the fact they already have a center), pass on better players like Mudiay that they had never scouted, and then sign another center to play ahead of him.

Pretty typical Suckramento move.

It is a situation Danny could explore and bring WCS aboard. They have nobody on the wing except for Gay and no pure PF.

Turner+KO for WCS?

It gives them a stretch-4  they do not have on a rookie contract and wing help behind Gay (who Karl said will play the 4 more often than not). They can have Sully if they want (but they wouldn't I guess, not a Karl-type player).

DMC, Koufus,
Gay, KO, DMC
Turner, Gay
Ben Mac, Marco
Rondo, Collison

That does not look thaaat bad, ne? Without it, they have 2 similar players at the 5 and nobody at the bench at 3 and 4

You want to win now? Here, take part of our bench.
"We do so many defensive drills in practice, I come home and I'm putting the press on my woman, denying her the ball.
Y'all are laughing, but it's sad. I go home and deny the wing."

The kings are a reason we should all be very stoked to have a great (or even sane) front office.
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.
