Really? We can't be on that phone, Danny?

I think we can offer something better than what the Lakers would give. Well, outside of the cash I mean.

This sounds like desperation.
I don't understand the move from the Lakers side. What is the point?
They really think they can make Hibbert travels back in time?
They are better of tanking another year imo.
Unless they get another top 3 pick next year they owe it to the 76ers.
Oh, it's top 3 protected? Darn. LAL might get to keep that.

That means, the LAKERS ARE SCREWED !
Sad to see Kobe ending his career that way though.

That's the strangest part about this trade. If the Lakers are trying to improve themselves for this year from this deal, than that just makes things worse for them long term.

Can someone explain to me what exactly the Lakers are trying to do? They already struck out with everyone else they were targetting. Why not just accept that this will be another down year and make sure you land in the top 3? You're not the Knicks where you absolutely have to do something. You can bottom out this year and not worry about a thing.

Because they'd rather try to compete than tank again.

I hate the Lakers, but I can respect their decision to not be a bottom dwelling team, and doing everything they can to atleast be a respectable squad.

I think I'm the only one who likes this move for the Lakers, assuming that they didn't give up too many first round picks. Basically just buying Roy Hibbert? That's awesome. If he can still protect the paint, that's good improvement.

The thing is, their pick become unprotected in 2017. No matter what, they will have to give a good pick to Philly next year or the year after. I don't see how they can make the playoff the next 2 years.

And some cash I believe, according to NBA TV.

But man, we could place a better offer than that.

I assume Ainge thinks that what Johnson has to offer is more than what Hibbert has to offer.

It is top 3 protected in 2017 and becomes unprotected in 2018.  Even if they finish with the worst record there's a 35% chance that they'll fall to 4th in the lottery.
