What do the Lakers have to trade for Hibbert?

Mike

Cap space. It'd create a trade exception for Indiana.

You are required under league rules to send something back in a trade, even if it's just a protected second round pick.  Is Bird so disgusted with Hibbert that he'd give him away for that?

I think so. A TPE of that size would be a tremendous chip to cash in later.

Considering they wanted him to opt out I'd say so. They've definitely soured on each other and drafted Turner in his place.

Looks like Indiana is going to luck-out here and be able to unload Hibbert without giving incentive to do so. Heck, they might get something out of it if the Lakers are desperate enough as they seem.

This was clearly plan F for the Lakers. It's going to be an ugly end to Kobe's career with that roster.

This sounds like desperation.
I don't understand the move from the Lakers side. What is the point?
They really think they can make Hibbert travels back in time?
They are better of tanking another year imo.

LaMarcus in the meeting probably handed a basketball to Kobe and said "Now pass it to me" and Kobe probably responded "I'm not sure that's the best option".

When he asked Kobe how he thought they'd play together and Kobe said I envision it like when I was playing with Pau Gasol" LaMarcus probably thought "Oh wow then. Yeah I'm outta here"

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
Just for draft picks and cash...? Are those first rounder/s?

Basically doing it like European Football. They didn't trade Roy Hibbert, they sold him to the Lakers.

What is it with the Lakers and mentally-weak big men?

Why? They don't own their pick.
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

Unless they get another top 3 pick next year they owe it to the 76ers.

Good news on multiple levels

(1) Weakens Indiana's grip considerably on a playoff spot. Lost both Hibbert and D.West. Big man rotation is a mess.
(2) Hibbert will regress in LAL. That roster is a bad fit for him defensively. He'll be overexposed. LA will still be a bottom 3 team in the West.
(3) Philly should get a great pick from LAL next summer. That MCW trade should work out extremely well for the 76ers.

Indeed, it is top3 protected to Philly. I understand it's tough to tank and be sure to win lotery. That makes sense. Tahnks :)
