28   R.J. Hunter           SG
8   Jonas Jerebko   PF
55   Jordan Mickey   PF
41   Kelly Olynyk   C
26   Phil Pressey   PG

45   Gerald Wallace   SF
13   James Young   SG
44   Tyler Zeller   C

Did I copy and paste this from ESPN? Of course I did:
http://espn.go.com/nba/team/roster/_/name/bos/boston-celtics

Anyway, there are 48 minutes in an NBA basketball game, and I am curious as to where you see them being distributed among our roster. I'll even make a chart for you for ez copy paste purposes:

Starters:
PG: _______,  __MPG
SG: _______,  __MPG
SF: _______,  __MPG
PF: _______,  __MPG
C: _______,  __MPG

Bench:
PG: _______,  __MPG
SG: _______,  __MPG
SF: _______,  __MPG
PF: _______,  __MPG
C: _______,  __MPG

Deep Bench:
PG: _______,  __MPG
SG: _______,  __MPG
SF: _______,  __MPG
PF: _______,  __MPG
C: _______,  __MPG

Go!

Nominally, I'm coming up with this.

Starters:
PG: Smart,  28 MPG
SG: Bradley,  32 MPG
SF: Turner,  20 MPG
PF: Sullinger, 26 MPG
C: Johnson,   28 MPG

(That's 134/240 minutes for the starters

Bench:
PG: Thomas  26 MPG
SG: Young, 10 MPG
SF: Crowder,  25 MPG
PF: Olynyk,  20 MPG
C: Zeller,  20 MPG

(That's 235/240 for the core)

Deep Bench:
PG: Rozier,  1 MPG
SG: Hunter,  2 MPG
SF: Wallace, 0 MPG
PF: Jerebko,  1 MPG
C: Mickey,  1 MPG

... Jerebko will of course have stretches where he plays real minutes... in fact most of the season he'll be grabbing 10 minutes or so. He's the first in line in cases of injuries, rest days, trades, whatever. Rozier will also get some chances for sure.

I'm gonna be real annoyed if Turner gets 20 mpg and Rozier and Jerebko each get 1.

Just get rid of ET.

Don't use the #16 pick on a combo guard if you're not gonna find a way to work him into the rotation.  He's already 21 years old, after all.

Well, again... this is the MPG in a typical game where all of the players are healthy. In reality, we will have guards getting banged up and/or needing a blow. I think Jerebko will definitely get a couple hundred minutes on the season, and Rozier may get something like 100 as well, it just won't be on a regular basis for either player.

For what it's worth, here's the rotation I'm using with the team in 2K.

I don't really have a hard and fast rotation, I just sub guys in and out based on how tired they get and what I feel is necessary at that point in the game.

Thomas - 32 mpg
Bradley - 28 mpg
Crowder - 32 mpg
Sullinger - 26 mpg
Johnson - 26 mpg
--------
Zeller - 21 mpg
Olynyk - 20 mpg
Smart - 20 mpg
Jerebko - 17 mpg
Rozier - 17 mpg
----
Everybody else: 0 or spot minutes

Embrace the tank and don't be trapped in mediocrity

The sentiment is understandable, but we didn't just spend $17 million on Johnson and Jerebko to have them rot on the bench.

Yeah but if we play them we don't even make the playoffs and the main reason they were signed is for them to become trade assets with the non guarantees

I'm hoping those signings mean there's some trades coming.

They can't really be very useful in trades if they're sitting on the bench.

Yes, they are de-facto expiring contracts, but having those hasn't proven all that useful recently.

Get over it, all of you. We're NOT tanking. It's not happening. Hope and wish all you want, but it's not gonna happen.

And how in the world are we "stuck in mediocrity". That's ridiculous. We went from a 1st round exit to a total destruction of our roster and then back to the playoffs as a 7 seed in three seasons. You can say that when we have three or four first round exits in a row. Not yet. This is a much better team than the one we had for the better part of last season. MUCH better. These guys will be in each and every game, and their record for the season will be better as a result. As it stands right now (trades are coming, for sure, and they'll tell us more about the direction this team is going) were more likely to get 50 wins than 30. I get that this off-season was disappointing, but this isn't a team of scrubs. These guys play great basketball together and Stevens is one of the best young coaches in the game. Would you really rather be the Lakers?

If I had to bet, I'd say Sully and Bradley are included in a trade with maybe Pressey or Thornton or even Hunter for a legit starting 3, 4 or 5. I'm not sure who yet, but someone. I can't really do a MPG thing until then, but I'd bet only Rozier plays any kind of legit minutes the way it stands. Maybe Mickey if we struggle defensively even with Johnson, or Hunter in spot minutes if Young struggles. Smart, Bradley, Turner, Sullinger and Johnson probably figure to be the starters. Maybe Zeller if Johnson needs time to acclimate. IT will get big minutes and Crowder's ability to play multiple position like Jerebko will allow him sizable PT. I really think we re-signed Jerebko cause one of Sully/KO is on the move. Rozier could find his way into the starting line-up if AB is traded. But honestly I hope Turner goes so Young can get on the court. Should be interesting to see who's left come opening night.

Don't be so down on these guys! There not a team you shouldn't take seriously.

I disagreea bout this team being a bunch of scrubs.

Also, BDCosta, no desire to take a shot at predicting our minutes?
