Correction: The Knicks have always sucked. The last time they were actually a competent organization was the Patrick Ewing days.

We talk a lot on this board about who the modern-day analogues of 2007 Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen are. Max money players about 30 years old who have been multiple all-stars over long stretches of time for bad teams who haven't been able to advance very far in the playoffs.

Carmelo Anthony and Lamarcus Aldridge are those players, but everyone in the league is playing the same game we were playing in 2007 and both of them would rather go elsewhere.

I wouldn't be surprised if that opportunity presented itself.

I wonder if they'll target David Lee now. A return to the Big Apple.

Fun Fact

McLovin hates the Knicks and is also a Celtics fan!  :)

No Melo. Too much baggage. Already peaked. Downward trajectory. ... the rest of our squad is not championship ready so no, you don't swing for a player like this.

Nah, we're differentiating between the Knicks organization (which was competent at one point) and the concept of the Knicks in general (where they've always sucked because, well, they're the Knicks).

They might as well, and try to win for another year because if I remember correctly they don't have their own first round draft pick until 2017.

If they made this move, signed R Lopez, and signed another guard or 2 they might be decent.

Gotchya.

I know that I should think the Knicks suck because they're the Knicks, but the overlap between NYK and BOS both being good at the same time has been so minimal that it's hard for me to really get invested. Same with the 76ers, actually.

wonder what else they could get from GS for him.  I mean with the cap room they have they could basically absorb Lee.  I would expect them to get at least 1 asset for their trouble.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Sources: With New York losing out on Greg Monroe, the process of the Knicks working to close on deal with Robin Lopez will gain momentum.

Twitter posting from 7 hours ago. Knicks turning attention to Robin Lopez.

IF ... that pans out, New York would look like:

PG: Jose Calderon, Jerian Grant
SG: Arron Afflalo
SF: Carmelo Anthony
PF:
 C: Robin Lopez

I think they should go after Josh Smith to round out that starting lineup.

David Lee a trade alternative.

Remember the days when the Cs vs 76ers was the hottest rivalry in the NBA??  How the mighty have fallen.  Sad.
Before a game on Christmas against the Pacers, Bird told Chuck Person that he had a present for him. During the game, Bird shot a 3-pointer in front of Person. Immediately after releasing the ball, Bird said to Person, "Merry F!#*ing Christmas!" and then the shot went in.
