Since yesterday's moves seem to signal that we are now officially out of the running to sign a top-tier free agent a lot of reporters are indicating that our only way to improve the team beyond this point is by making trades.

To clarify, I have no problems with any of the deals that Danny struck yesterday but I'm a little bit annoyed that our only way to improve is by making some trades and we don't seem to be doing our due diligence on the trade front.

Reports have indicated that players such as Eric Bledsoe and Ty Lawson may now be available however their has been no indication that the Celtics have even reached out to the Suns or Nuggets regarding these players.

I'm sure he's been exploring deals all along.

Yeah Ainge has a reputation as a complacent GM. But once he reads this thread, I'm sure he'll jump right in it.

Like half our roster is guards, I don't think we need more of them.

I agree. We need to make room for the younger guys and sell high on our "core"(AB ET IT Zeller). Also we should be exploring the d league and other players to see if we can get a diamond in the rough.

Well Cousins and Melo are the only 2 big names that seem likely to get traded anytime soon. Both seem like long shots. Much like the Amir signing, whatever Ainge does next will probably come out of left field. The trade front and free agency look bleak. We need some of the guys we got to step up into bigger roles. If Smart can become a star that would solve so many problems :)
