$20 million in year 3 (2017/18) of that contract when cap will be $108 million is equivalent to $12 million under last year's $63 million cap.

$12 million for Millsap is a very good price.

I like it for them because it's the type of player they really need, and they need to start putting some vet great talent over there (similar situation to ours in various ways).

I had no interest in Millsap for us though.

Tweet earlier said Hawks might work out a sign and trade for Harris if they don't want to match. If so, we might need to start some kind of support group thread or a toll free number to call in and remind each other that the world is an ok place.
We're the ones we've been waiting for.

Per Broussard

@ESPNSteinLine: Whoa. My man @Chris_Broussard just reported Orlando has offered Paul Millsap four-year, $80 mil max to give Hawks something to worry about

Insane for a 30 year old
It isn't insane for Millsap, it is insane for Orlando.

Totally agree, Tobias Harris is definitely out of Orlando

Bears mentioning that they could sign Millsap and still afford Harris... I don't think they will, but the threat of matching will still remain.

I think they should keep Tobias Harris. Keep developing him. Raise his value and trade him later.

That contract will be a steal under the new cap the way Harris is improving. Great trade asset.

I agree with that sentiment, I just think Orlando just won't want to deal with that. But we'll see.

I don't think that means Harris is out, I just meant a rebuilding team shouldn't be paying a non-difference making PF that kind of money.  Millsap is a very good player and would be a great signing on any number of teams, but given his age and skill set he makes very little sense for a team that is bad, like Orlando is.  San Antonio, Dallas, staying in Atlanta, etc. he makes a lot of sense for, just not a rebuilding team that still needs its main core pieces (or if they have said pieces are still years away from being that piece).

Orlando's aggressive pursuit of Paul Millsap has several execs in on Tobias Harris more optimistic of Magic not matching a big offer.

Orlando has something along the lines of 22 to 24 million in room, not including Harris for next season.

Don't get why Millsap would jump from ECF finalist to lottery team for equal money.

Maybe he doesn't want to play against LeBron in the playoffs because he is scared and looks silly trying to guard him. He might be happy to collect the same money and his family can go to Disneyworld while he plays out the regular season.

Atlanta is a great regular season team that could've even lost in the first round if they got a bad match up.  I don't think it's that crazy to imagine.  Has happened before.

so if Millsap signs with Orlando, that leaves Atlanta and Boston, from what I've heard, available for Harris. Does anyone think Atlanta is a good fit for Harris over Boston?

He is an upgrade over Milsap IMO so I would say yes. That sucks though because they are a lot closer than us so with all things being equal and better weather which team would you go with?
