One issue I see with DA going after free agents is the roles that are clearly available on this team.

The only players who are free agents from last seasons playoff birth are Bass, Crowder and Jerebko. So the natural fit on this team is for a rotational 3/4 and a big man looking to get roughly 20mpg. This actually falls in line with the rumors that the Cs contacted Brewer ( not really a 3/4 but a long 3), Green ( a long 3), and Johnson (20mpg big). These roles being open the fact that the Cs added 3 rookies who at least have a shot of earning PT and James Young hopefully developing further and this team becomes a deep talented mess. I wouldn't be surprised if FA find it hard to see a clear cut role on this team. Where as a team void of players like NY can make a clean and easy pitch.

This leads me to speculate that DA will you the potential of a S&T to his advantage. This will give him the added roster space and also the ability to pay more then a team just signing a player outright.

Example

Sully + AB + Wallace + 2 2nds for Monroe

Mavs
Wiz
Hornet
