Let's say wade signs with the Cavs. Can they afford to take on his contract, lebron's, Thompson and love? If it comes down that they can only have 3 of the 4 don't you think love is the odd man out?

Doubt he goes to the Cavs, but I assume it would have to be a trade.

Assuming Wade goes to the Cavs they lose  in the ECF after LeBron suffers from series-long cramps and a rejuvinated Derrick Rose averages 50-5-15 for the four games, leaving the Quicken in literal flames that Noah deigns to put out with his urine.
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

He can't unless he signs for the Vets minimum...

This would be amazing. Can anyone draw this up?

He could sign for the Taxpayers MLE, as well, but that's a giant pay cut.

It would have to be a sign-and-trade with Miami, which is possible using Haywood's $10.5 million contract, assuming Miami could be appeased instead of spiteful.  This would limit them to the apron of about $85.5 million.  They would not have room for all four of James, Love, Wade and Thompson with that apron, especially given the money already committed to Irving, Mozgov, and Varejao.  They would probably need to part with Love instead of Thompson in this scenario, since the $3 mil difference in salary will matter in terms of filling out a roster.  That said, the roster would be James, Wade, Irving, Thompson, Mozgov, Varejao, Miller, and 5 players at the minimum.  (In other words, it could be tough to keep Thompson and get Wade, even if they let Love Walk).

If the Cavs keep Love and some of their other free agents like Smith, Dellavedova, and Shumpert, and pass on Wade, they could go well over the $100 million mark in payroll.

Wait is Miller really not retiring? That seems criminal.

Reports are he's exercising his $2.8 million player option.

From your mouth to God's ear.

I know Wade going there can't happen realistically, but that's some great imagery, man.

I honestly am really surprised. He completely killed them whenever the Cavs played him, and that was a really unique situation where they were desperate for someone to be able to hit a few 3's to keep the offense moving. I can't imagine the Cavs are thrilled to have him back taking up a roster spot and making more than the minimum. Why not just become their shooting coach?

The Cavs should waive and stretch him.  They could sign three players for that price.

Why not just become their shooting coach?

Because teams don't pay shooting coaches $2.8 million. ;)

While I agree that is true.. I am sure they could work something out like making him a team ambassador that paid a small amount each year if he was to cooperate with them. Maybe Lebron has enough pull that they are not allowed to tell his buddy they don't want him exercising the option. The Lebron part is really the only reason I can think this guy keeps getting the money he does. He was already amnestied once, now a second team may stretch him two years later?
