I think we have a real shot at signing these two guys this off season

Harris: love this guys game, he's 22 and Stevens can teach him smart shot selection

Monroe: his game has been hindered by the presence of drummond imo and truly is a C

We can go over the cap to sign crowder
Thomas scores off bench and we put Zeller as a back up C
What do all think?

We don't have the cap space for both I don't think.  Both are wanting max or near max deals.

Just have to move Wallace's 10 million, that would cost us picks though.

Yea I wasn't sure about our cap situation that's unfortunate. From what I've heard the 2016 draft is considered fairly weak.
I would trade our pick or Dallas's to get rid of Wallace in a heart beat.

I'd roll with those two around 15 million! And cross our fingers we can use the 12 and 7 million trade exception on some quality roll players....

We certainly have the draft pick assets to move almost any player that we want without taking salary back and we should do just that if the prize is Monroe and Harris.

If you think that will stop Danny, you are underestimating him.  8)

  • Learn to be you and only you
Smart/IT/rozier
Bradley/crowder/Hunter/young
Harris/pierce/crowder
Sully/KO
Monroe/KO

Assuming we use some picks to free up the cap space.

We turn some of our guards into a backup center that can provide a defensive presence and that's a force in the east.
"Maybe there is hope for us afterall

I post a lot of stuff on my phone autocorrect sucks.

We have multiple ways to accomplish this. The most direct ones are:

Option 1: Dump Wallace

Option 2: Dump Turner, Stretch Wallace

I estimate our buying power at $29 million with stretching Wallace and our buying power with dumping Wallace at around $33 million.

This accounts for the QO of Crowder, all the cap holds, and renouncing the TPEs and non-guarantess, etc.

To afford these two guys, we should need about $32 million give or take.

I like Monroe better than Harris
But Monroe would be a better fit in NY than us

I do think Monroe is heavily leaning to Knicks. I hope we can steal him from them, they have been flirting with each other for months now.

We do sign and trades, send some picks and a contract or 2. Anything is possible IMO we have to sign 2 max this year. Next year we will have zero advantage.

I have been advocating this for a month now, I absolutely think it is the best long term plan for the Celtics.  If Brooklyn is terrible the next 3 seasons that would be even better.
2019 historical draft.  Pick 12

Tim Duncan, Oscar Robertson, Elgin Baylor, Scottie Pippen, Willis Reed, Mitch Richmond, Sam Jones, Dan Majerle, Bob Cousy, Rasheed Wallace, Shawn Kemp, Marcus Camby

I'm for Monroe.

I think he has a certain fit to this team .

Some teams force us to play big . He can be that guy on offense and offensive boards ,,,,,,when going against the Grizzles for example.

Unfortunately we cannot do that since we would have to renounce our TPEs in order to sign any free agents.

Regardless, I would definitely be in favor of these moves and believe we already have quality depth...so much so that I would try to package some players and picks for another upgrade to really top load our roster. If we get two quality max level FAs to sign with us without giving up anything, we should thank our lucky stars.
