Portland is finalizing a trade to send Nic Batum to Charlotte for Noah Vonleh and Gerald Henderson, league sources tell Yahoo.

Charlotte takes a gamble on talent, Portland moves on from a guy who had a really disappointing season there last year and finds a replacement / cover for the injured Wes Matthews.

Surprising that Charlotte, like Sacramento, is so willing to move on from a guy they took in the top 10 last summer.

Is this a start of a rebuild?

Hard to draw that conclusion, considering that Henderson was probably at least as valuable as Batum last year, plus Portland is getting a guy who was a highly touted, very young prospect just a year ago.

I don't think this will help Portland in their effort to keep Aldridge.

It also could mean that Charlotte will keep their pick.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

I guess retooling is a better word to use. Great trade for Portland IMO.

Smart move by Portland.  Batum is greatly overrated.

I think the move was made with strong consideration that they might not have Aldridge next season.

Henderson is feasibly Matthews insurance, but considering he's an expiring, it looks like the real centerpiece of the deal is Vonleh. Not sure that they're quite rebuilding just yet, but I have to think they made this move with the idea that they might be operating without a LaMarcus Aldridge on their roster next year.

Well, on the other hand, Charlotte now has a big hole at SG and has made moves that indicate a focus on being a playoff team next year instead of waiting on youth.

Let's say they trade #9 for Bradley, Turner, and #28.

Walker / Turner
Bradley / MKG
Batum / Barnes
C. Zeller / Marvin
Jefferson / Hawes

bradley for # 9 works for me, depending on who's there..
