Not sure if this is worth a thread, thought it was interesting.   Seems everything really is on the board.

Per a league source, Minnesota Timberwolves have discussed trading Anthony Bennett, Nos. 31 and 38 to the Boston Celtics for pick No. 28.

Correction: The discussed Wolves-Celtics is Anthony Bennett, Nos. 31 and 36 for No. 28, not Nos. 31 and 38.

I think the draft pick value is appropriate. I just don't want him at all because of the salary.
CB Draft LA Lakers: Lamarcus Aldridge, Carmelo Anthony,Jrue Holiday, Wes Matthews  6.11, 7.16, 8.14, 8.15, 9.16, 11.5, 11.16

Why is the rookie salary a dealbreaker?

Icky. If anything, Boston should get rid of some draft picks, not take on more. And given the current roster, Bennett is redundant, not to mention he's possibly not very good.

The rookie scale is pretty significant at the top, he made more than $5 million last year and it's only gonna increase
I'm bitter.

So we get out of the late first and pick up the best second round pick plus another.  OTOH, we get stuck with Bennett for a year. Might be enough if Danny's willing to use cap, but maybe not.

My guess is we turn around and send 2 high 2nds to Portland for 23. They are rumored to be shopping pick for two 2nds.

Then draft RHJ or Justin Anderson.

I like this deal if it happens.

Keep one of the 31st and 33rd and that would be pretty sweet. Still, a lot of money to waste on a bust and a no go if DA's got plans for free agency.

I like that scenario a lot. I would probably take Anderson at 23 for extra shooting. I'm also not willing to give up on Bennett completely yet. He certainly hasn't been good but it's not too late.

So is the salary cap. I don't see Bennett's deal being an albatross under any circumstances.

Celtics do not want the players at that pick locked into a first rookie deal.

Plus taking a swing at a reclamation project with such upside and no real long term implications sounds like the rebuilding Celtics.

Bennett is a bum with a high salary. I wouldn't waste a second round pick on the guy. He is another stiff that does nothing to advance this roster forward.

Rumor: Bennett , 31 and 36 for 28th pick

Yay or nay?

For the 28 alone, 31 and 36 would be a good return.  Bad part would be, the celts have to eat Bennet contract for next season (5 million and change)
