Quote
Ilyasova, who was dealt for Racine native Caron Butler and Shawne Williams, was a part-time starter for the Bucks last season, playing in 58 games and starting 36 of them.

However, he could be the Pistons’ full-time starter as veteran Greg Monroe will become an unrestricted free agent on July 1. There is strong speculation Monroe will sign with either New York or Boston.

Update:

I contacted Woelfel on the speculation and he was kind enough to respond saying,

I’ve been hearing those teams for more than a month. The general consensus is he’ll end up in New York.

a front court of Kelly and Monroe is great offensively but terrible defensively.

Monroe and Sully same...

WCS and Monroe good defensively don't know how it would work offensively...

Idk if we pickup Monroe, we need a very versatile Center or PF.

We have the money to get him
But should we?
He's a very good player but he may have hit his peak for his potential
Also we may need to get rid of some of front court guys to make room for monroe
Plus he isn't a rim protector so any frontcourt pairing would make our interior defence into a sieve

New York is probably the ideal choice for Monroe
As its a bigger city than Boston
He would fit into the triangle system
Knicks suck so he would get playing time at either 4 or 5 right away

WCS + Monroe = pretty much the same as Drummond and Monroe
But with better defence

What are the positives that Monroe can bring to the team? I'm not well informed on him.

Monroe is a better defender at the 5, than he is the 4 because he struggles defending on the perimeter. He's not the ideal rim protector, but he's an excellent defensive rebounder. I don't think he's hit his peak at all. He just turned 25 and the last couple of years was playing alongside Drummond, which clogged up the paint. I can only imagine how well he'll look offensively surrounded by shooters and with the paint open to operate. He's also a very good passer.

Do the Celtics have a chance of signing Monroe?

Monroe has some real flaws in his game, but he can score down low.  I'd gladly take him.

I think he's a lock to go to the Knicks, though.

He would be the best rebounder and post scorer we have on our team.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

If we get Monroe I see him playing center.  We would need an athletic stretch 4 to play on his side...Portis has the size effort and range...might be a nice compliment.

+1....WCS, Jordan Mickey, Montrezl Harrell as shotblocking presence....I'd be thrilled to get Monroe. Just turned 25 last week. 5 years in the league. He's a center we could build around.
He played out of position and in Drummonds shadow in Detroit. He's got the physical tools to be a good defender. Fluid athlete.

Monroe and Love/Aldridge.....big-time defensive rebounding.
