Jay King: Two areas Stevens wants to improve: versatility, shooting. Said everyone will discuss rim protectors. "There?s only so many of those guys." Twitter @ByJayKing - See more at: http://hoopshype.com/rumors.htm#sthash.wJilb5V7.dpuf
Is this Brad saying he doesn't expect the Cs to get a rim protector?
"I think, certainly, in an ideal situation, what you're looking for are certain qualities as a team. A rim protector, whether it's a 7-footer or not, is extremely important in this league. A guy that really protects the rim from the dotted line in."

There's only one in the draft who would likely be able to contribute much next year, and 4-5 in free agency. The are more than 5-6 teams who would like such a player, so getting one is anything but guaranteed.Unlike a lot of us on this board (myself included), Stevens is a realist.

You really overestimate the ability of college players to transition to the NBA. If they were ready, they'd all be top 15 picks.
He's got a good point, though. How many legitimate seven foot tall, long, athletic, true rim protectors are there in the league right now?JordanHowardDrummondGobertNoelWhitesideChandlerAnyone else?

Robin Lopez, Koufus, Asik, Ajinca, Brandan Wright are all unrestricted and an upgrade in regards to rim protection (whatever that means). With the main targets being Gasol and DeAndre, we might be able to snatch a very solid defensive center as Robin Lopez.
