I like Rashad Vaugn in the second round. Only 18, very good shooter, terrific scoring instincts. Sounds a lot like Devin Booker who is most likely going in the first half of the first round.

Me too. Dez Wells, qualls are also options with the 45

Everything I read about Hunter is like "he doesn't shoot well, but he's a really good shooter, trust me".

I like this one. Good analysis. I would be good with these picks
Kind of lacking in the big  department.   Mickey is only 6'8".

And so is Tristan Thompson, David West, Faried

On the flipside guys that are much taller like Hawes, Ryan Anderson , Ryan Hollins can't rebound nor block shots.   Height is not everything

I have stated several times also that Mickey has a 7'3.5 wingspan and ridiculous 37.5 max vert.  and it does matter.

None of those guys protect the rim though. If you're looking for Mickey to be an athletic type who hustles and gets garbage points, that's one thing. However, if you're looking for him to be a rim protector that's another story. Undersized 4's dont typically equal rim protection.

What does it matter if your 6'6 or 6'11. If you can rebound or protect the rim at a high level?

Mickey led in bpg last season.  His timing plus physical tools made it happen.

If mickey was 200 pound pf I wouldnt be excited. Maybe that is the way you are seeing him. But he is 240 and did not get moved easily

Below are the NCAA's top 10 in blocked shots for every season since 07-08. I stopped even though I could keep going, but you get the picture. Which is that historically speaking, undersized bigs that block shots well college doesn't translate on the next level against legitimate size.

eddie, great post. it was interesting and informative to see how blocked shots is NOT a stat that translates well from college to the nba. nice homework on this, so a tp has been delivered to your doorstep.  ;D
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

Also important to remember that blocked shots do not equal rim protection. I don't know if that's a case for or against Mickey.

Im glad eddie20 you posted the list

Lets use Khem Birch vs Mickey as an example

Similar height. Birch has 7'0-7'1 wingspan vs 7'3.5
Both are explosive athletes. But Birch also is only 215 pounds vs 240.

This makes a big difference and that is why imo Mickey will be different than alot of these short pfs

Mickey also proved he held his own vs Kentucky trees , something we dont know if Birch was able to do against such talents.

There is no guarantee Mickey is an exception to the list . But he is younger than most you listed and the tools of 7'3.5 wingspan, 37.5 max vert, explosiveness and 240 pounds cant be ignored imo

Pick 16 is very difficult to predict this year

A lot of guys have us going for portis
Who's is a solid role player at the 4

But i feel like we already have that in sully, olynyk , (jerebko + bass if we decide to keep them)

Maybe we should take a chance on upshaw
I'm confused with his situation
And haven't seen much of his game
But he's stats still look very impressive as well as his physical measurements
All I know is his great rebounder and shot blocker

Like a taller, longer wingspan JJ Reddick

I really like all the picks again.  The reason is , it adds missing elements

Hunter is a deadly shooter and scorer.  Pair him with IT in the 2nd unit. Add a hopefully better Young and our 3 pt shooting should nicely improve from last season.

Mickey is a very good shot blocker, explosive pf.   Good replacement for Bass.  Minus the mid range jump shot (though Mickey can become consistent) and add a better above the rim presence.

The two euro prospects are good for draft and stash situations.  One could become a Mirotic down the line for us. We can't really add all the picks onto the roster anyways

lineup after this draft prediction

C-  FA
PF - Sullinger
SF -  FA
SG - AB
PG - Smart

Bench

C- KO
PF - Mickey/Jerebko
SF - Crowder/Young
SG - Hunter/Young
PG - IT

*trade Zeller and ET
* Grab FAs to fill in the hole for the starting center and sf spots. Could be Kofous and Caroll/Butler/Middleton etc.
