Well, it is the Knicks. That makes it not impossible.

This is the underrated factor here - it can be an obviously stupid trade while still being plausible for the Knicks to go for it.  If anyone had suggested the Bargnani trade before it happened it'd be considered crazy too.

I do think it's pretty likely the Knicks trade the #4 - they want to put a good roster around Carmelo ASAP - but I have to imagine they can do better than IT for it.

You could see them trading it for Kyle Lowry or something.

Great words from a great man

Lol.  Our back-up pointguard for a star prospect.  Funny.

Marcus Smart + #16 might land you #4 if New York loves Smart.

IT is under contract for the next 3 years.  There's a good chance he'll be BETTER than anyone the Knicks get at #4 over that stretch.  And he costs less than 7 million dollars a year.

If the Knicks were assured of getting a top free agent like LaMarcus Aldridge, trading the #4 for IT, #28 and #33 would be a pretty good deal because the Knicks need to win NOW, NOW, NOW with Melo.

No it wouldn't, at least for the Knicks.  If they put 4 up on the open market they could and would get a heck of a lot more than that.

At a minimum it would have to be something like IT, Sully/KO, 16, 2016 pick and that still probably isn't enough.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip
