to the Magic.

The Clippers survived his absence very well (i know it was a small sample size). But more importantly, they will not be able to build a bench if they don't give up one of their big 3.

So:  Trade Griffin, player(s) X and a second round pick for:

Aaron Gordon, Oladipo, Frye, Harkless and pick # 5.  If that's not enough substitute a S&T'd Tobias Harris for Frye, etc...

Paul
Oladipo
Winslow
Gordon
D. Jordan

Or:

Paul
Oladipo
Winslow, Gordon
Harris, Gordon
D. Jordan

What are the alternatives?  I guess they could trade Paul instead, but not for nearly as much with all the young studly PG's in the league and him being older than Blake.  Let Dandre Jordan walk and sign Khris Middleton instead?  That would suck.

They're going to need to do a bold reboot if they want past the 2cnd round...

I'd love to see other trade possibilities.

I admit mine probably brings in too much youth...

what's the alternative? Well, they could play out the season next year with their big 3. Then in 2016 the cap Rises and they can add another max player....

Sign and trade Jordan if they feel the need for a major shakeup.

Both Paul and Blake have show the ability to carry the team for short periods.  They are the keys going forward.

Jordan is the guy being greatly overrated and a free agent.  Use it as an advantage to add more quality players at good prices and then spend wisely (for once) on free agents.

Doc needs a re-set trade, not a rebuild.

Trade Blake to the C's for some established talent, we can even take that Hawes contract off Doc's hands so he can have a little more wiggle room after re-signing Jordan to the max.

Celts get:  Blake, Hawes, Udoh

Clips get:  AB, Bass, Wallace, two future BKL firsts

Swapping out Wallace's expiring for Hawes 4year deal is the primary motivator here.  And who knows, LA is so thin that the 3 they could probably use Gerald's toughness.  AB and Bass are both knock-down shooters who'll fit well alongside Paul, also represent massive defensive upgrades over their current stable of 2's and 4's.  And the trump card, what makes this deal hard for another team to match/exceed, are those 2 future BKL firsts.  For a 're-set' type deal, it provides some nice future pieces as well.

Celts cash in their big chips, but the thing with the BLK picks, their potential is at an all time high and I'd have no problem parting with them for this return.  I also don't mind Hawes as a reclamation project, his outside shooting should fit in well and his contract may not looks so bad in a couple years should he prove useful again.  Add a couple other veteran role players and we're right in the hunt for the East.

The guy is 26 years old ,has been arguably one of the top 2 or 3 players in the playoffs and you want to trade him.
What is that age old saying only trade an all star for an all star.
Got to let the disappointment of the big collapse blow over for awhile first.
If KD doesn't want to resign with OKC I would trade Griffin straight up for him.

regular season all star.  ceiling reached, and his new go-to move appears to be the dribble hand off.

Blake couldn't even back down Josh Smith in single coverage when his team needed it most.

In what universe do you trade Blake but resign DeAndre for four years?

Can we call this the Billy King zone?

Marc Spears recently offered up a rumor (with a capital R) of Blake Griffin for a signed-and-traded LaMarcus Aldridge.

Doesn't really help the Clips' depth issues, though.

They have a window of contention, based on CP3. Trading Griffin for young parts/prospects is the polar opposite of what they should be doing.

More like Mitch Kupcheck zone.  Where you let marquee free agents walk for nothing.

D. Jordan, Hawes

That would be pretty awesome.

I love the quickness and athleticism of that team. I think Frye would start for another year or two until Aaron Gordon is ready to take over at power forward. Winslow and Oladipo would be a phenomenal combination on the wing. Combined with the defensive versatility of Gordon and the interior defense of D.Jordan, that group has the potential to be the best defensive team in the league. CP3 a good defender too. Moe Harkless would be a great fit in that group as well. Harkless an immediate upgrade over Matt Barnes and Co. Redick gets to move back into his more comfortable bench role. Hawes as backup center. Strong depth. Multiple scoring options. Frye to stretch the floor. Paint wide open for D.Jordan to feast.

Clippers would need to be sure of DeAndre Jordan re-signing though which seems far from a sure thing at the moment. It would be brutal to give up a top big man like Blake Griffin and lose DeAndre Jordan at the same time. Almost impossible to replace both of them.

DeAndre Jordan may be a marquee free agent for the class of 2015, but there's no reason you trade your 1A/1B player so that you can sign your third best player to a max contract.

Unless you're trying to make the Clippers worse. Because that will definitely make the Clippers worse.

Spencer Hawes played a total of 57 minutes in the playoffs this year.

If you're not going to play the guy, you might as well trade him. Could probably get two rotational players back for his outgoing salary ($5.3 mil).
