I have a feeling the C's might not trade up in this draft. I understand the C's have needs for a rim-protector and back-up PF but I also think we are in need of a guard that can create his own shot and get shot for others. If we have the ability to grab a Stanley Johnson, Justise Winslow, WCS, Kelly Obure then pull the trigger if not...

Cameron Payne would fit a C's need. I've seen a lot through the forum for AB to come off the bench and I agree. Payne's game is similar to Mike Conley where he controls the pace of the game. His ability to create his own shot and get shot for others keeps the space for Steven's system, and provides that ability that both Smart and AB lack. As much as I like IT4, he should be the 6th man for the long haul with Payne starting next to either AB or Smart.

Seems like a smaller version of D'angelo Russell.  Looks good.
I also like Tyus Jones but I guess Payne is rated slightly
higher for the moment.

Completely agree. I'm glad I'm not the only Celtic fan that believes that Smart isn't the future at PG. Payne is probably the best all around point guard in the draft, but isn't the type of athlete that Deangelo Russel or Mudiay are. He has the best handle in the draft, probably the best shooter from the point guard position in the draft, and statistically his AST% is the highest in the draft. I'm honestly surprised he is not ranked higher. He's actually a good defender because he is quick laterally and long as well. If you asked me who I'd rather have at PG right now based off of what we would potentially have to give up to attain, I would take Payne over Lawson. Payne has the potential to be a very good guard in the league and fits Stevens fast paced, high pick and roll system really well. It's all about pride though. If Danny feels that he selected Smart at 6th overall to be the PG of the future and he doesn't want to move on from him I doubt he will grab Payne. Is it the right decision? I don't think so. I'm not saying give up on Smart altogether, but as a point guard.
