Khris Middleton will be one of the NBA's most highly coveted restricted free agent.

Middleton put up a great season and is well-liked by advanced analytics.

One executive predicts Middleton to receive an offer of $15 million per season.

“That’s what Chandler Parsons got, but this guy plays much better defense,” the executive said.

I like him but I'm hoping we don't shell out 15 million to bring him to boston.

I know this is the summer to overpay, but yikes on giving Middleton $15M+ / yr. He may turn out to have a very good career, but there are certainly no guarantees. B. Wright is also an advanced  stats darling and I have no desire for his return.

This is what the rumor says;

All signs suggest they will match any deal he gets, and they have the space under the luxury tax line to do so. But they will need to consider a future in which they have to pay Carter-Williams, Antetokounmpo and Parker.
Maybe they will, maybe they won't. Time will tell ::)

No doubt.  Anybody remember the last time we overspent wildly on a free agent after one good season?

Why wouldn't they?  In this changing cap climate, they can afford 15 mil for the poor man's Michael Redd.

They could trade him if necessary.

Talking millions won't reflect the value of the contract.
We should talk with % for the length of the contract and make an average %.
Here is a result for middleton and his equivalent contract as of today would be 10.73 millions.

$15M is a hell of a lot of money for a 13/4/2 guy, even if he is a very skilled shooter.

That's dramatic over-payment, Chandler Parsons style.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
In 2017, $15 million is the same % of the cap that we paid Jeff Green  in 2012.

why do people continue to omit the salary cap increases from these potential signings ?
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

I also thought that Jeff Greens contract was an overpay.

15 million is to much.   Only the end of his contract does the inflation makes sense.  Until that point, where the Celtics are still in a major talent building project, he takes up too much space.
