Quote

Boston Celtics
Myles Turner, Center
Texas, Freshman | 6'11'', 240
The Celtics should not resist using their first-round pick on an unfinished project, seeing as they almost certainly won’t be ready to make a deep playoff run next season. Enter Turner, a 6’11’’ big man who can block shots and space the floor by stepping away from the paint and knocking down jumpers.

Quote

Boston Celtics
Montrezl Harrell, Forward
Louisville, junior | 6'8'', 240
The Celtics may endure another transition season as general manager Danny Ainge continues to stockpile assets for a long-term rebuild. In any case, Harrell can immediately help Boston with his rebounding and energy, even if his upside is limited, in part, because of his size (6’8’’) as a frontcourt player.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

If Myles Turner falls to 16 that will be incredible.  He has a really high ceiling for being picked that late

That would be cool but I am trying to remember the last time a mock draft was correct for us...

Those two being available when we pick is pretty much a best case scenario in my view imo.

I don't see Turner lasting that long unless team doctors don't think he can stay healthy long term, which if it's the case I don't want to draft him either.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

I'd be pretty disappointed with a Harrell pick honestly.  Like him as a college player but not as a pro prospect.

if it played out this way, I would consider the draft a huge win.

But I think this is flawed. They have Lyles at 11 and Booker-Grant-Dekker going 13-15. Turner is going to slot ahead of all four of those guys, in my opinion, on virtually every draft board.

This is a pretty rough mock. Russell at 6, Lyles at 11? Come on

I bet it's not as bad as you think.

This is off the top of my head, but I aggregated a lot of mock drafts the last few years to see who the most frequent picks were. In 2012, the wisdom of the crowd, as it were, did chose Fab Melo for us.

In 2013, I believe it was Lucas Noguiera. Some people had us taking Olynyk, but most said no, he won't fall to us.

Last year, there was a pretty good split between Aaron Gordon and Marcus Smart.

I remember seeing Avery Bradley in a few mocks for us too.

The higher you get the easier it is. So picking correct at 5 or 6, while still impressive, is doable on some years. However, projecting a 16th pick is just an exercise in futility. You could probably get like 20-1 odds on predicting it correctly.

FWIW, poking around right now Trey Lyles may be the leader of the pack.

NBAdraftnet (consensus): Dekker and Powell
Bleacherreport: Lyles and Upshaw
Draftexpress: Portis and Anderson
CBS: Lyles and Alexander
MyNBAdraft: Lyles and Wright
Walterfootball: Dekker and Wood
Jackstats: Booker, Johnson

This would be amazing.

Earlier this year I was assuming Harrell would be going around #16 so being able to get him at #28 while also landing [the sliding] Turner at #16 would be the best case scenario.

I would absolutely take Harrell with the 2nd 1st round pick. Kid has a high motor, him Smart and Crowder will frustrate the hell out of opposing teams on defense.

Now get a few more offensive players and we're talking

Harrell would've been nice to have in that game yesterday with his intensity.

Would you take Turner over Karmisky if both available?

I'd prefer Karmisky if both available.....and move KO.
