I think we will make a more splashy option because we already made the playoffs and got swept.   To not do so, could make people think we need to bottom out more or if we take a step back people will be rioting.   A lot of teams folded up shop this year and they will be playing next year.  So Ainge has to make some moves, and they will be calculated good ones that improve the team.   I do not think he will panic.   But I do think he will be looking for starters and not bench guys when he can.

I like the idea. Maybe a 3 year deal at 6-7 million a season.

He is strong and has a 7-5 wingspan. Not the quickest, most athletic but has pretty decent mobility.

Well, he's better than Zeller defensively, on the boards, and overall strength.

I think Koufos is a very good bench player to barely adequate starter. He would be a minor upgrade on the Celtics current options but not an answer to anything long term.

Which is why he would be a very good pickup.

We won't commit a long term plan for him, but at the same time, he'll be an upgrade with very little downside. 3 years/$18 million sounds about right, a pay raise and starters minutes.

It will also create competition within the club with Tyler Zeller, which would only make both of them better. And alongthose years, we could easily figure out if he can be part of the team.moving forward, all while having, as you said, an adequate starter and a very good backup.

Win - win if you ask me.

Championship wise, neither of these guys make much sense.

Koufos is ranked by some a rim protector.   I found this tweet, I do not know if it is legit.

I would have never guessed that, but I am really skeptical.   He is slow and has slow feet.

I think if he is reasonable to sign then I do not mind it.  But I do think we need to get more athletic across the board.   We got too old, but our young guys do not have a common strength of younger players in that they are not as athletic as some of the other players.  Ainge has opted to go for guys with skill over athletes.   Sometimes it works to our advantage and other times we get burnt by it.

There's isn't really a lot of athletic Centers available that could be a realistic target. Koufos is a very attainable player. He's solid all around albeit slow, but we can scheme and use his strengths (like his size and length) and still be a good defensive squad despite lacking athleticism on the Center slot.

Hey, Bogut is slow, didn't stop him to be a difference maker in defense. So while I'm not saying Kosta is Boges, I'm saying that the lack of athletic ability should t be the reason for us to just pass on what is a realistic target, with a low risk - good reward potential.

I'd like to aim a little higher though I suppose Koufos would be an upgrade over Zeller (though that might not be saying much.)

I think Enes Kanter or Brook Lopez would be a better target for center.

Watching a good amount of him right now.

He doesn't look like as slow as some thought he is. He looks very coordinated with his movements too.

  • Peace it's a board. We all will never agree.

I like the idea of Koufos on a fair deal. I hope we still get WCB somehow. If we could get Brook it would help us in the Draft next year too if the Nets don't find a replacement. But he is getting The Max from the Nets.
