not sure exactly what the rule is, but yeah - if you're a bench warmer who doesn't play, and your team sends you in and you hit a guy in the face and try to start a fight, pretty sure that should get you ejected.  Although, I have to admit a good strategy to try to get our most important player to fight and get ejected.  I think the Smith punch was just him being a hot head, and sort of a dumb person.  He has a history of things like this, some people are just like that.

I almost made a thread about this myself. I really don't understand it either. I thought any contact to the face was automatic...

they did that so the Celtics would not win.  leaving Perk in the game was just to frustrate the Celtics and let us know no matter how hard we tried, that were just plain #^REed at best.  have you ever seen a player not get ejected for overtly trying to start a fight  in the middle of a game?  especially a player who is a bench warmer and not even a factor in the series other than to start a fight.  that's the biggest thing he did in the whole series.  If Sullinger did that to LJ, guess what the penalty would have been.  He would have been ejected before James even hit the floor.

How bad was the decision to not eject Perk?  Even Steve Javie ::) got it right.  Btw, if you google Javie, this is the first picture that comes up ::) -

Why was Perkins not ejected?

Because Lebron said not to.

The first picture that comes up if you have parental controls on.

Umm, okay, but I don't have any parental controls on, lol. ;D Perhaps I should have been more specific - if you just do a normal google search, and not a google image search, for 'steve javie,' the picture above is the first one you see.

Okay here is the real deal.. the NBA broadcasters are usually in tune with the NBA. They usually try not to disagree with the NBA or the refs. For Jarvie to come out and say Perkins would be ejected without parsing, he must have really thought that the ejection was a no-brainer. It is just amazing that he was not ejected.

Because Lebron said not to.

Correct.....that would being going against the hopes and wishes of the NBA ......who want James in their playoffs at all costs .

TV ratings #1 priority =. James must be on court as much as possible

LeBron on the court =. Max dollars revenue per game hour.

Somewhere in the vast complexity of making as much money as possible for everybody in the loop ,...

There in lies the sport of basketball

TP! This is real. Think of the outrage from the nba if Sully delivered a blindside blow to Lebrons neck and then poked him lol. He would probably be banned for life, let alone ejected.

The NBA wants LaBron in the finals at any cost. When the LaBron Jersey buying fans hear that he isn't in the finals, they turn on Professional Wrestling.
