After averaging 12 pts on 26 minutes this year, the Captain goes for 37 minutes for 20 points in taking out Toronto today...

here is the line:
Paul Pierce, SF   37   7-10   4-7   2-2   0   4   4   0   1   1   1   4   +6   20

Got to love him. That is all!

I <3 the Truth.

Too bad they don't run more of their offense through him.  Tommy would say over and over again, "Pierce should touch the ball at least once on every offensive possesion in the 4th quarter."

This is a guy who would average ~5 assists per game.  Weird to see him with 20 points and 0 assists.  It's extra impessive when a guy continues to knock down shots, even though he's only touching the ball once every 10-15 minutes.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

Pierce is being utilized the way he should be at this stage of his career.

sure he still has the ability to be the man, but if any team tried to ride on his shoulders at his age he would not be as effective as what we see.

Nothing could make me happier than to see Pierce thrive during the playoffs...

...nothing that is except him opting out of next year with the Wizards and signing on with us again for next year's ride.

Who cares if Pierce's effectiveness/efficiency suffers?  I'm talking about making the team better.  Pierce is not the reason for WAS's success.

If you look at the passers in that starting lineup (Wall, Beal, Pierce, Nene, even Gortat's solid) it's absolutely in Washington's best interest to move the ball around more.  Relying on Wall and Beal to make plays on their own is stupid, and a complete waste of their extremely well-rounded lineup.

I agree, Washington almost lost the game because of those stupid iso plays for Wall and Beal. In OT they started to move the ball, PP launch a 3 and Toronto never recover after many other great team plays from the Wizards. Iso play should be used at the last possession to win the game (if you have a very efficient guy that can do that), but certainly not the last 5. Team play > ISO play on the long run.

I only say the bum part bc why didn't he put in the effort to come in that kind of shape when he was here??

He looked very good tonight

Joking, right? Paul Pierce didn´t care about conditioning while playing for the C`s? When he won the finals MVP? He was a bum before he played for the Wiz?

caring and going over the top after different stories

Why is he slim/fit now vs last few seasons with the Celts?

He was good even looking pudgy before, but he would of been better if he was as slim/fit as now
