I think the rockets are gonna clean up.  Smith and jones (forever) are a good defensive tandem to handle Blake and Dwight can get DJ in foul trouble.

They've got harden and Ariza to cover cp3 (and Prigioni is a decent defender) and the clips have no answer for harden.

I still love Doc, but the Spurs outplayed and outcoached the Clips in that game. The Clips are lucky that they hit a lot of shots they had no business hitting.

Also my favorite Doc huddle:

I think the Rockets would have knocked out the Spurs anyway in the next round. Tony Parker is too beat up.

Kawhi and Danny Green would've had a field day with Harden.

Agreed.  Having Parker limited and Splitter hobbled just weakened the Spurs too much.

I don't want to take anything away from the Clippers, who played great, but this series was more about Manu being D. O. N. E. and Kawhi not being ready/able to carry a team.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
Can we say that DeMarre Carroll is a FA agent target?

He has played magnificent in the Post-Season so far.

I love Demarre Carroll, but like Danny Green he is as much a product of a good system as anything else.

The goal for the Celts should be to create the next Green / Carroll, not pay a premium to acquire them in free agency.

I agree, although Parker being seriously limited and Splitter hobbling up and down the court didn't help either.

The Spurs supporting cast, aside from Diaw, Green, Mills, and Belinelli, just wasn't up to the task this time around.

Pero Antic would make a nice starting center if higher Ainge misses out on Monroe.

I feel better paying Antic $8-9 million a year than I do paying Robin Lopez $16-19 million.

I haven't watched much of Washington outside of the playoffs this year, but it sure does seem that the Washington guards do not like to pass the ball to Pierce or actively get him involved in the offense.

I like the way Bazemore fits on this Hawks team.

They have 3 bigger wings with Korver, Carroll and Thabo. Then an undersized SG with high level quickness as the backup SG who can come in and cover those combo guard types like Lou Williams in the last series and Bradley Beal in this series.

Good contrast in defensive skill-sets.

He has done well when he has started for Atlanta.

Good physicality in defending opposing centers. Decent albeit below average rebounder. Shoots the ball well on offense.

Totally bogus to let those kinds of calls go on for the last 2-3 minutes and then give CP3 the friendliest whistle this side of Steve Miller.

I want LA to beat Houston because they're more fun to watch, but that series features two seriously lame teams.

I can't stand either of those teams. Bunch of whiners and crybabies on each side. Only good news is that one of them will go home in the next round.

That was a highly questionable foul on Duncan, and the buzzer "malfunction" was ridiculous, but I'll also admit that the Spurs blew plenty of chances to seal the win, like when they were up 3 with about a minute and a half left and Matt Barnes tied it with an open look from the top of the key. I can't stand that punk.

Agreed.

Better yet, the winner goes on to lose to Golden State in the Western Conference Finals.  In my estimation, anyway.  Neither team has the depth to beat Golden State.

But on the other hand, I guess you could have said that regarding the Clippers against the Spurs.

GS is not a shoe in to win.

Clippers have a more balanced starting unit imo

Oh definitely, nothing is guaranteed.  Especially in the West.

But compare the Clippers bench to GS.  GS 2nd unit is better than some of the starting units other teams have rolled out this year.

The reason I'm high on GS is because they defend at a championship level, and they have so many players who can step up and contribute.

If Houston ends up beating the Clips, I'd bet a large sum of money that they won't beat GS.  Not happening unless GS suffers major injuries.  I think the Clippers would give GS a solid challenge but would fall short.
